Entry of the Dallas World Trade Center
It’s Market time in America, so I thought I would take this opportunity to explain exactly what Market is to people who have never been or heard of it. Market is when retailers, designers and decorators from all over converge on major cities where Market Centers are located. Here in the USA we have major markets in Dallas, Atlanta, NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas. There are smaller market centers located in other cities as well.
Markets are divided into different categories and occur at different times. For example, major Home and Gift Markets occur twice a year, usually in January or early February and again in late June and July. At the Home and Gift Markets you can see anything and everything you can possibly think of you might need to decorate your home or office as well as Holiday decor for all the major holidays. There are major clothing and accessory markets, usually occurring within a couple of weeks of the Home and Gift Markets.
When I was in retail we would attend Market in Dallas because it was close and convenient and also in Atlanta, with the thinking being that we would see some different merchandise in Atlanta than was being offered in Dallas. I’m still hoping in the near future to attend the Markets both in NYC and Las Vegas.
Now that I’m out of the retail game and focusing on design work and blogging I mainly go to Market when I’m needing certain items for a client job or for some inspiration. Of course I also go when I need to order holiday merchandise for client’s homes or offices, whether we’re sprucing up to what they already have or changing it up and doing a whole new look for their holidays.
I recently went to Dallas for a couple of days to see what was new, gather pictures to show clients and to get inspired. Here are some pictures I took of great looking merchandise in the Dallas World Trade Center. ENJOY!!!
