Roland Mouret Goes Bananas

As an added bonus blog post today,  we are taking a look at the joint venture between French designer Roland Mouret and American retailer Banana Republic, which is available starting today online and in stores.  I’m always fascinated by collaborations between high end fashion designers and mainstream fashion retailers.

Roland Mouret was born in Lourdes, France in 1961 and his formal fashion design training was made up of three months at a fashion college in Paris in 1979. What Mouret lacked in clothing construction knowledge he made up for with an innate “awareness of sensuality that allowed him to create irresistible clothing”.

In 2006 Mouret created the dress of the season with his Galaxy Dress.

In the past Roland Mouret has designed a dress line for the Gap and recently opened a standalone boutique in London with two floors of retail space.

This past April Mouret and Banana Republic announced their collaboration, Mouret has designed a multiple piece collection in a classic color palette.
Mouret had this to say on his venture with Banana Republic:

“Partnering with Banana Republic on this project was such an adventure for me,” says the designer. “The common goal for this collection is to offer incredible fit through an assortment of hourglass silhouettes using Banana Republic’s Sloan fabric, extending my love of structure into accessible prices. These pieces are multi-functional for the modern woman to wear and accessorize in her own way, making her always ready for life’s journey.”

The Roland Mouret collection is available online and at select Banana Republic stores starting today and while supplies last.  Here’s a peek at the creations of Roland Mouret available at Banana Republic.  Enjoy!!!!!!
