Happy Boxing Day

December 26, 2014

By Tab Byrum

Hello!!!  I hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas, most people I know are continuing the festivities throughout the weekend.  Today is December 26th, so if you are in England or any of several other European countries today is known as Boxing Day and is considered another National Holiday or Bank Holiday.  From what I can find out Boxing Day originates several centuries ago, since servants and tradespeople had to wait on and take care of their employers on Christmas Day the day after Christmas was set aside for them to celebrate.  Many times they would leave their employers homes where they worked and visit their own families, they would be sent on these journeys with boxes containing small gifts, leftover food and financial bonuses, thus Boxing Day.

Michael and I have been fortunate in that we have been able to visit England twice this year on two different vacations and at two different times of year, so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity to share pictures and images of different places in the UK celebrating Winter and the Holiday Season, Enjoy!!!

I hope you have a great weekend and rest up from all the festivities of the week as we get ready for New Years and to close the book on another year and to start 2015.  Rest, relax and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
