All Colors Lead To White

Today we are going to talk about using the color white in our homes, especially on the walls.  White as you may or may not know is produced by combining all the colors of the spectrum,  the opposite of black being the absence of all color.  I really don’t remember ever living in a house with white walls, color has always been a big part of my life.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love color, always have and always will, but there’s a part of me that’s becoming more and more drawn to white or at least more neutral colors as far as the walls of my home.  I’ve always loved clean, fresh looking white woodwork and don’t you think things really pop against white.  So why not have white walls and get color from artwork, our furniture, pillows on the furniture, rugs, window treatments, you get the picture. Let’s take a look at white and how it’s being used to freshen up and brighten up our lives, Enjoy!!!

This is one of my favorite looks, white walls and woodwork offset by gorgeous dark wood floors.

I love exposed brick, and paired with the contemporary light fixture is awesome.

See how nice, bright and even clean this child’s room is with white being the prevailing color.

Again, dark floors with white walls and doors, and the dark is picked up by all the hardware in the hallway.

Look at how sharp all the wood in this room looks against the white walls and ceiling.

Classic combination of black and white.

This is beautiful, but I have to admit that this is a lot of white even for me, but still beautiful to look at.

This is a nice example of bringing in some gold and a few punches of red.

I could walk into this kitchen and not change a thing.

I really like all the different colors going on in this room against the white backdrop.

One good way to get some color in a white room is to paint the ceiling.

In addition to colorful art, black and white photos look amazing on white walls.  Love this whole neutral room.

Why yes, I would love a Carrera Marble backdrop for my TV, WOW!!!
(do you think it’s real or painted?)

There you have it, a look at the world of white in Interior Design.  What are your thoughts? Yay or Nay?
