The birth flower for the month of January is Carnation. I often feel carnations get a bum rap, they are looked on as cheap when in reality they are a big bang for your buck flower.
Carnations come in a large variety of colors and can bring big pops of color to arrangements, and I love their ruffled edges and their scent reminds you of cloves. You may also hear carnations referred to by their scientific name Dianthus, which means “flower of love” or “flower of the gods”.
Years ago carnations were the flower of choice and if you pay attention to old movies you will see arrangements of only carnations used for decoration and of course they were the “go to” boutonnière for men. Join me today as we look at carnations in all their glory, Enjoy!!!
