Friday Artist: Fire & Bone

February 6, 2015

By Tab Byrum

Today’s artist post may seem a little macabre for some people but when I found Fire & Bone on Big Cartel I was totally fascinated by their work.  They are taking 21st century technology and combining it with man’s love for animals and turning it into beautiful art and jewelry.  Using 3D scanning and 3D printing the guys at Fire & Bone create very detailed skull replicas, the replicas are then cast in one of three metals, white bronze, yellow bronze or sterling silver.

The skull replicas make beautiful pendants to wear on a chain or beautiful small pieces of artwork, these are definite conversation starters.   Click here to visit a page that gives you a more detailed look at how these beauties are produced. Fire & Bone is made up of 3 gentlemen, Jason Bakutis, Chris Boynton and Matt Kroner, each of these guys brings their own unique outlook and abilities to the table to create Fire & Bone.  Enjoy!!!

Another view of the Roe Deer, this time as a pendant on a chain.

This gives you some idea of the process for making Fire & Bone creations.
