Winging It

One of my favorite chairs is a Wingback Chair, I love the old world look of it and found out in researching this post that the wings were initially added to the chair to block drafts from hitting the person sitting in it, as well as helping to trap the heat of a fire for the person sitting in the chair in front of a fireplace.

Wingback chairs are one of those pieces that I love the form of the chair and even more I love updating the look of it with a contemporary fabric.  Wingback chairs have often be relegated to libraries and men’s clubs and have been thought of as a masculine chair, but with the right fabric a wingback chair can be a very sexy lady’s chair, I also like the look of wingback chairs as the head chairs on each end of a dining room table and at our house we have a new wingback headboard for the bed.   Join me today as we look at wingback chairs, they’re many looks and uses.  Enjoy!!!
