Last week I told you that diamonds are the birthstone for the month of April and I shared some beautiful jewelry designs in diamonds with you, since I try and focus on design here at Tabulous I thought we would take a look at some of the great jewelry design houses and their creations.  Today we are going to start with a great French jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels.  VCA is a jewelry, watch and perfume company founded in 1896 in Paris by Alfred Van Cleef and Salomon Arpels, today the company has stores all over the world from New York to Beverly Hills, Naples to Chicago, Monte Carlo and Aspen. The jeweler is no longer family owned but is still producing amazing designs in jewelry, over the years they have made stand out pieces for the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Empress Farah of Iran.  Here’s a look at some gorgeous sparkle from Van Cleef & Arpels, Enjoy!!!

The “Tampa” Necklace

A diamond and Turquoise brooch by VCA.

The Burton Cognac Diamond ring, formerly owned by Elizabeth Taylor.

Princess Charlene of Monaco, wearing her sapphire and diamond Ocean Tiara.  Perfect for a Princess living in a principality by the sea, Prince Albert gave her this for their 2011 wedding.

This open work collar necklace contains almost 100 carats of diamonds.

Van Cleef & Arpels Ballerina Brooch.

These are referred to as a pair of cultured pearl and diamond ear pendants.

A VCA diamond and emerald necklace, circa 1951.

This Art Deco Ribbon Brooch is amazing.

The Empress Farah of Iran at her coronation in 1967 wearing the jewelry made for her by Van Cleef & Arpels.

In the 1950’s the Duchess of Windsor encouraged VCA to do something with zippers in their jewelry design, this is an example of the extraordinary things they have done. This piece is a necklace that can convert into a bracelet.

In 2014 VCA launched their Fairy Tale Fine Jewelry line, this castle brooch is from that line.

This bracelet is from Van Cleef & Arpels legendary Alhambra line, first created in the 60’s, this line is still enormously popular today.

Elizabeth Taylor being “attended to” by Louis Arpels in Paris in the 50’s or 60’s.

A VCA amethyst, diamond and yellow gold ring.  The Amethyst is a cabochon cut, notice the VCA insignia.

Van Cleef & Arpels Hexagon Ruby and Diamond bracelet.

A diamond, emerald and cultured pearl Lion’s head brooch by VCA.

Another piece from the VCA Fairy Tale collection, something tells me she can definitely grant wishes.

A beautiful pair of diamond and emerald ear clips, circa 1970.  Each of the emeralds weighs over 14 carats.

This is a 1969 advertisement used by Van Cleef & Arpels featuring diamonds and emeralds.
