A Bite Of The Big Apple

April 22, 2015

Every April for the last several years I’ve gone to New York City with my friend Donna, as I told you on Monday her birthday is April 20th and we try to go as close to then as possible. Donna’s sister Tracy lives in Connecticut and she comes into the city to meet us, and the 3 of us eat and shop our way across Gotham. Last week we flew out of Oklahoma City on Wednesday and returned home this past Sunday, so I thought today I would share some of the sights of New York City in Springtime, Enjoy!!!

The view up 9th Avenue from our hotel balcony.

We stayed at the Ganesvoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District, we usually always stay in Mid-town but always found ourselves in a cab going downtown so we changed it up this time and were so glad we did.

On Friday we went uptown to 57th and 5th Avenue to do a little shopping, meet friends for lunch.

Store windows in NYC are always a treat.  The string art in the Bergdorf Goodman windows is so cool.

This was an installation inside the Fendi store using fabrics, furs and straight pins.  This photo is a small snippet of a huge work, there are thousands upon thousands of straight pins in this.

Looking down 57th Street from 5th Avenue.

Inside the MacKenzie Child’s store on 57th Street, there’s always a lot going on in here.

The windows at the Teuscher chocolate shop at Rockefeller Plaza never disappoint…….

…..as well as the huge flower beds going from 5th Avenue to the ice rink at Rockefeller Plaza.

The Tiffany stained glass ceiling in the Palm Court at the Plaza Hotel.

Black and White cookies from the food court at the Plaza, we also took a quick peek in the Eloise boutique at The Plaza.

Sunset over the Hudson from the rooftop bar at our hotel, The Ganesvoort.

Saturday we shopped and strolled taking off up Hudson then down Bleecker Street, so gorgeous!!!

After a long winter the flowers were bursting out all over.

I loved the white blossoms against a red building in front of a bright blue sky.

This big guy’s name was Titus, he was sunbathing in one of the small parks around Bleecker Street. Look at the size of his feet, he was a sweetheart.

Don’t let these fool ya, they were on a table in front of a shop selling soaps and lotions, but as you can see from the windows sweets are their theme.

On Saturday afternoon we continued walking, then went back to our hotel via the High Line Park, this was the view from our walk.

This was one of the buildings along the High Line walk, isn’t it breath taking?

This is one of the newer apartment buildings that’s been built in lower Manhattan along the High Line.

All photos are my own, taken on my iPhone 6.
