There are so many styles of decorating for us to look at, today I want to hit on Transitional Style. Transitional is defined as a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, somewhere between the old world and the world of chrome and glass.

One thing I enjoy about Transitional is the use of traditional forms and shapes but updating them with current fabrics or newer staining and painting techniques and colors. I love to take a very traditional chair form, say a wingback, and have it reupholstered in a new fun geometric print or a bright and colorful velvet or linen. Of course, another popular trend in the Transitional style is the use of neutral colors, the layering on of whites, creams, beiges with a hint of dark brown or black. So let’s take a look at the Transitional Style and let me know what you think, too far out for you or not enough? Enjoy!!!
