I love Ina Garten, better known as the Barefoot Contessa. I’ve watched her show for years and actually record it every day whether it’s a rerun or not, so I was very interested when I saw this blurb about her from Veranda Magazine. I’ve made many of her recipes over the years including roasted shrimp and cocktail sauce, beef stew, chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing and on and on, plus I have all her cookbooks. Take a few minutes to read this article (click here) and if you don’t already watch her show on the Food Network you should start, it’s so good. Enjoy!!!

I swear by her 23 minute beef tenderloin, roasted vegetables, roasted shrimp, luscious scrambled eggs and all her entertaining tips. Yes, I choreograph my table with my serving platters weeks before the party. I place post-it notes on each one reminding myself of what goes where. I catch tons of grief for this. I set my table weeks in advance and cover with a sheet. I have all of her cookbooks and would love to meet her someday. I’ve thought of going to South Hampton and looking up, Michael, her florist friend. If I bought her some orange tulips, maybe he’d lead me to her…. Ha Ha…. I love that she had this big shot career at the White House and chucked it all to buy The Barefoot Contessa, the ultimate risk and life reinvention! And lo and behold, who discovers her telegenic greatness? Martha Stewart…. Not a huge Martha fan, although she is a great teacher. She’s a little too pretentious and stuffy for my taste. The ankle bracelet only emboldened this trait. I’m sure she laughs all the way to the bank after her little stint in the sisterhood jailhouse.

Love it!!!! When you’re ready to go find Ina let me know and I’ll join you. We’ll arm ourselves with orange tulips, Le Creuset dutch ovens and Cote de Rhone wine (one of her favorites) and charm her. I need to do the flowers for one of your wonderful dinner parties sometime and yes we will have our lunch SOON. xoxo
