Ice Cream Inspiration ~ Vanilla

July 22, 2015

It’s hard to find anyone that doesn’t like Vanilla ice cream, vanilla is one of my favorite flavors and scents and it’s a great base for so many other flavors to add to the mix. Just like the ice cream a “vanilla” room is a great base for design, decor, art and so much more. I know some people find a mostly neutral colored room boring, but I’m seeing it more and more and I really like the look more and more. What are your thoughts on “vanilla”, neutral or cream-colored interior decorating? Remember you can always have a neutral base and get punches of color from pillows, throws, artwork and accessories. Let me know what you think, Enjoy!!!

Isn’t this stove beautiful, looks like something right out of Downton Abbey…….sort of.

Neutral color schemes are a great way to showcase natural elements such as dark woods and darker colors, they really pop.

Love this lantern fixture and the rug adds a little pop of color without being over the top.

Brass and gold are elements that really look beautiful with a neutral color scheme.

In this image, a lot of gray has been brought in along with metal and the dark wood floors, beautiful.

A beautiful neutral entryway to greet you and their guests.

A beautiful neutral dining area with some classic elements such as the crystal chandelier, mirrors and artwork along with some contemporary elements like the dining chairs and the rug it all sits on.

In this room the color Taupe is mixed in with white, this also pulls out the darker colors in the marble floor.

This is another room that’s a mix of contemporary and classic elements. The sofa and coffee table or more contemporary mixed with classic elements like the side chair, drum table, and marble pillars. The neutral color scheme ties it all together in a beautiful package.

In this neutral room, the colors blue and white are brought in and scattered around the room to give a punch of color.

I love a neutral kitchen, whether it’s white or cream colored cabinets, you get a nice contrast with dark countertops and hardware.

I love everything about this room, the striped chair, oversized artwork, shelves and the lamp. Once again a great way to see how gray and cream mix so well.

This is another great example of how darker wood really pops against a neutral color scheme, it just makes the wood look that much more rich.

Again, dark elements against a neutral background really make the dark elements sing.

So, what are your thoughts on “Vanilla” decorating, can you get into our flavor inspiration or are you more of a Rainbow Sherbet type person? Have a great day.
