The temperatures in Oklahoma have turned red hot, so I thought we would talk about the birthstone for the month of July, Ruby. The color of rubies immediately gives thoughts of richness, decadence and maybe even a little sinister, when you’re talking about the red versions. Rubies get their name from the word ruber which is Latin for red, rubies come in several shades of red ranging from pink to deep dark red. The value and prices of rubies are determined by their color with the most expensive being “pigeon’s blood” rubies. Today we are going to take a look not only at rubies but also the design their color inspires, Enjoy!!!

This classic room is a great example of red being used in conjunction with other colors and patterns such the black and white floor, the leopard chair cushion, gold frames and crystal chandelier.

I have yet to address my love and obsession with plaid, but I could definitely live in this room.

Sometimes just a touch of red is all you need to stand out.

I always think red is perfect for an evening banquet or dinner party, so elegant with a big punch.

I really want these backless bookcases, and again, just a touch of red for a powerful punch.

I’m not sure what’s the most powerful element in this bath, the red walls, the tub or that huge chandelier.
