This past weekend was the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. D23 is the official Disney Fan Club and is named D23 in honor of D for Disney and 23 for the year 1923, that’s when Walt Disney left Kansas City and headed west to California and Hollywood where he founded what is today an entertainment empire. Disney made several big announcements concerning the future of their theme parks with the biggest announcements having to do with them now being the owners of the Star Wars franchise. Disney will be adding 14 acre Star Wars themed areas to the theme parks in Anaheim, California, and Orlando Florida, of course, this comes right before the seventh Star Wars movie will be released this fall. This will be Disney’s largest land expansion ever in the history of the theme parks. Here’s a look at some of the photos released in conjunction with the announcement about the new theme parks, I CAN’T wait!!!! Enjoy

The new areas will be staffed by roaming droids and beasts seen in the movies will be roaming.

This is an artist rendering of the Millenium Falcon and guests will be able to fly the Falcon in the new parks.

Of course the new parks will look like planets seen in the movies, this one definitely looks like Naboo to me, the home of Queen Amidala, Luke and Leia’s mother.

It was also announced that there will be a new ride with an Avatar theme. The ride will be a flight through Pandora on the back of a banshee.

This is an artist’s rendering of the River of Light Experience coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2016. The show will feature live music, animal imagery, floating lanterns and water screens.

There will be a lot of amazing additions and changes coming to the Walt Disney empire, I definitely think I need to check into joining D23 so I’ll be up to date as all these things happen. Have a great day!!!!
