Color Inspiration: Sunset & Blue

September 28, 2015

By Tab Byrum

We just got home this afternoon from our trip to Seattle and Canada, more on that to come later this week. While we were gone the Oklahoma City Thunder unveiled their new alternate uniforms, they are calling the color Oklahoma Sunset and it’s very fitting. As I’ve said on here before I LOVE orange and sometimes it’s a hard sell in Oklahoma since Oklahoma State University’s colors are Orange, Black and White and people who are OU fans generally refuse to have anything to do with orange, that being said I really like the new uniforms, I like them so much that I’m using them for color inspiration.

Thunder stars: Nick Collison, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka in the new Sunset Orange uniforms.

The uniforms are mainly orange with navy blue trim and some white, navy and orange is one of my favorite combinations, as you can tell from the colors I chose for the blog. Orange and blue are two colors that play off each other, and navy isn’t the only shade of blue that looks great with orange, so does light blue and turquoise shades of blue. Let’s take a look at orange and blue as we enter the Autumn season, be inspired GO THUNDER and Enjoy!!!

This room is mainly done in blue with touches of orange in the ottomans and window seat cushion.

Love this rehearsal dinner, beautiful!!!!

Who wouldn’t enjoy relaxing on this porch?

Gorgeous color on the walls and in the window treatments with pops of orange on the table. I also love the Mid-Century furniture.

Wouldn’t this desk be great in a boy’s room?

A great example of blue and orange playing off each other.

Very inspirational, I’m definitely getting a blue, orange and maybe brass thing here.

Another great porch to relax and enjoy.

This room is definitely done in the new Thunder Sunset Orange with Navy, very cool.

Just a hit of orange with the floor lamp, lovin’ that sofa, maybe add a couple of orange pillows.

Another beautiful dinner set-up with blue orange decorations.

A great bulletin board idea for your high schooler or someone going off to college, this could be done in tons of color combos.

I’m definitely going to be investigating colored tile grout, but I love this white, blue and orange look.

Doesn’t this just say fun and maybe beach? I’ll always take orange tulips.
