I was at the floral wholesalers the other day picking out flowers for a project and saw buckets of beautiful Dahlias and realized I hadn’t done a post on these beautiful blooms. Dahlias are one of my favorites this time of year, they generally come from Mexico and in 1963 Dahlias were named the national flower of Mexico.
Dahlias are related to sunflowers, zinnias, chrysanthemums and daisies, so that explains their look with all the little pocket areas in their blooms. Dahlias are one of those flowers that add a powerful punch to any arrangements they’re used in. The ones I saw the other day were a burgundy, but they also come in beautiful pinks and purples as well as white and sometimes white with colored edges. I love the orange dahlias that are available this time of year and they look wonderful in fall arrangements. I’ve gathered some examples of Dahlias growing and in arrangements for you, Enjoy!!!
I couldn’t resist using this charming picture of Dahlias in a basket, look how big those blooms are.
Burgundy Dahlias are so deep and rich looking.
