It’s always exciting to see what designers around the world are doing and coming up with, it’s probably one of the best ways to get inspired for your own home or job. Recently House Beautiful magazine did a Facebook post on New Orleans designer Rivers Spencer, I loved what I saw on FB so I headed over to her website to see more.

Rivers discovered her love for design while faux finishing furniture in her grandma’s garage, she found she has a real knack for it, she read all the books on design she could find and now she owns a shop in New Orleans and designs a furniture line which is made in New Orleans. Rivers is a genius at combining the antique elements of the past with the looks and trends of today to create beautiful rooms and homes. I really like the lightness of everything, which she accomplishes using white walls and woodworks and if you’ll notice her window treatments are light in color and if they are darker she uses sheer fabrics.  Join me today as we take a look at Rivers Spencer and her gorgeous work, Enjoy!!!

A beautiful and very traditional dining room with a modern feel to it.

I really like the pops of color she gets in her mostly neutral rooms through the use of artwork.

This room is so peaceful and serene, love the soft blue.

I don’t know why but I always like a white painted brick fireplace, it just lightens a room while still retaining the look and feel of the brick.

Gorgeous traditional shaped table with fabulous contemporary art.

I’m always a sucker for groupings over a piece of furniture, and these Vanity Fair Spy prints are among my favorite things to group.

This is a great way to furnish a long narrow room.
