Frontier City Fun With Love’s

September 1, 2015

It’s time to start thinking about wrapping up the Summer and moving on to Fall, but we managed to squeeze in some outdoor fun this past weekend. Michael works for Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores in their corporate headquarters and Sunday was their annual Employee Appreciation Day which was held at Frontier City, Oklahoma City’s amusement park located right off of I-35 that gives you dose of the Old West with corn dogs and funnel cakes sprinkled in.

Now, before you start grumbling and groaning I have to tell you we had an awesome time, Michael or I neither one had been there since we were kids and it was great. They’ve really upped the ante as far as rides with several roller coasters like the Diamond Back and the Steel Lasso, they’ve also added one of the bungee cord rides, where once you’re released you swing out over the crowds of people and the pools of water at the Log Ride. We had a great catered BBQ meal, ran into old friends from college that work at Love’s also and made some new friends.

All in all it was a great day, if you haven’t been to Frontier City in a while check it out and if you’re from out of town or out of state and are ever passing through on I-35 or I-40 make plans to stop and take the kids to Frontier City, but honestly, you don’t even have to have kids to have fun there. Enjoy!!!

There are lots of old farm implements and equipment throughout the park and lots of beautiful flower beds.

There we are, oops, guess I should have taken off my shades.

The streets of Frontier City are lined with buildings from the Old West.

This is the Diamond Back roller coaster, you shoot this loop going forward then do it going backward.

FrontierCity2015 - 14

Of course, it’s not an amusement park unless there’s a carousel.

Most of the buildings in Frontier City house shops or restaurants, great places to go in and cool off on a hot summer day.

The Crape Myrtles are coming into bloom all over the park and all over OKC.

This was next on our list The Centennial Ferris Wheel.

Off in the distance to the left, you can see the skyline of downtown OKC.

This is the Silver Bullet roller coaster, it was a great ride.

Model T’s for all ages.

FrontierCity2015 - 29

This is the Steel Lasso, you’re suspended up off the ground, just swinging free and easy pulling some G’s. We rode all the roller coasters in the park and this was probably my favorite.

FrontierCity2015 - 35

The Two John’s Saloon served beverages for all ages.

FrontierCity2015 - 33

There’s a huge barn-like building that houses an arcade at one end and a food court at the other end, a great place to cool off and put your feet up for a few minutes.

FrontierCity2015 - 34

Of course while in the arcade we had to sample the Cowboy Creamery, this is a scoop of Chocolate and a scoop of Salted Caramel, YUM!!!!!

FrontierCity2015 - 4

Out in the park, there are several places to pick up Dippin’ Dots, don’t you just love Dots.

FrontierCity2015 - 16

We may not have a famous mouse at our amusement park in Oklahoma, but we have plenty of Bison, both bronze and alive.

FrontierCity2015 - 37

The Livery Stable is near the front gate and is the entry to the part of the park that caters to the little ones, lots of small rides and plenty to keep them busy.

FrontierCity2015 - 40

Let’s give it up for the Bear Band!!!!

FrontierCity2015 - 42

Frontier City, check it out!!!!!
