I was trying to come up with something that combined design and Halloween and came up with Victorian Gothic, a look that combines the Victorian age from the mid-1800’s to the time of Queen Victoria’s death in 1901 along with the look and feel of Gothic architecture. For most people, the words Victorian and Gothic both conjure up images of dark clothing, shadows and pale skin as well as huge arches that end in a point at the top, ribbed vaults and large paned windows.
I think the clothing part comes from the fact that Queen Victoria only wore black after her husband Prince Albert died in 1861 and all the photos we have from those times are only in black and white. I love Gothic Architecture, all the detail that goes into and the grandness it portrays. Join me today for a look at the dark side of Victorian Gothic and looks it inspires today as we prepare to celebrate Halloween in all its spooky beautifulness, Enjoy and Happy Halloween!!!!
