A few years ago Michael and planned a vacation to Northern California and while we were deciding what we wanted to do I remembered about the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, dedicated to Schulz and his beloved Peanuts creations.  I thought since we have been looking at Peanuts this week it was a good time to talk about the museum. The facility is located in Santa Rosa, California, just north of San Francisco and is so worth the trip. The museum, of course, has a lot of memorabilia and mementos that belonged to Schulz as well as an amazing look at the history of Snoopy and the gang. The museum hosts several permanent exhibits as well visiting exhibits that have to do not only with Peanuts but also the art of cartoons. In addition to inside the museum, there are wonderful sculptures outside scattered around the grounds, if you are in the area and have any interest in Schulz and his iconic creations check out the museum, you won’t be sorry, I loved the whole experience and am looking forward to visiting again very soon. Here are some images to whet your appetite. Enjoy!!!

This is a huge wall mural depicting Charlie Brown trying to kick the ever evasive football, the mural is made up completely of black and white Peanuts comic strips. In the picture below you can get a better idea of the scale of the mural.

This wall mural was created by Japanese artist Yoshiteru Otani and is called Morphing Snoopy. It shows how the Snoopy character has changed over the years and is made up of 43 layers of wood. The same artist created the tile mural seen above.

The gift shop is amazing, we bought two poster prints of Peanuts artwork created by Tom Everhart, the only artist allowed by Schulz and his family to recreate the Peanuts characters. We’ll talk more about Everhart on Friday.

Tab, this was wonderful! I am an avid Peanuts (Christmas) collector and love things Peanuts related. I had no idea this place even existed so I’m grateful for this blog! If I ever get to make a trip back to California, this place will definitely be on my to-do list.
