Homes For The Holiday: Transitional Beauty

December 18, 2015

By Tab Byrum

I have to admit something and tell you that time has gotten away from me this holiday season and what I had planned on posting for today just didn’t happen, so today I’m featuring a house we looked at last year. Tomorrow night we are attending a party in this home that the homeowner has every year so I’ll give you a peek at where I’ll be spending my Saturday night. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday, Enjoy!!!

Happy Christmas Eve, and to my family “Christmas Eve Gift”!!!!  Today we are taking a look at another home I decorate for Christmas, I think this is my 4th or maybe 5th Christmas in this beautiful home.

I got to know these clients after they inquired with a neighbor as to who decorated their door, they called me and it’s been a great working and friend relationship ever since.  This house is what I refer as a transitional home, it has aspects that are very traditional but yet incorporates lots of new and up to date ideas as far as finishes, fabrics and so much more.  I mainly take care of the front door decorations, staircase, dining table, fireplace, garlands and help with the Christmas trees.

We usually start working on it early in November since the client’s host Thanksgiving in their home as well as a large Christmas party (some years 2 parties) and a large family Christmas celebration.

For the most part the holiday color scheme is traditional, except for the dining room where we played off of the chandelier that incorporates both clear and amber colored crystals.  Join us today for another home tour, Enjoy!!!

The first year I helped in this home the homeowner sat in the floor and made two of these wreaths while I worked on the staircase and we visited and got to know each other, I think there was wine involved as well.

These folks are avid OU fans, they have the memorabilia to prove it.

The main tree is covered in ornaments the home owner has collected over many years.

This house is a joy to work in and the homeowners are a joy to work with, not only am I glad to have them for clients, but I’m very proud to call them friends.  I hope you enjoyed this magnificent home and I hope all your “stuff” is done and you can enjoy the rest of this Christmas Eve day and night.  Can you believe Santa Clause will be here in a few short hours.

All photos are my own.
