Southern Living Cottage of the Year

Southern Living magazine is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year, I received my most recent copy in the mail the other day and was glad to see it filled with great articles, gorgeous pictures and one of my favorite features every month, a house plan.

This month’s plan is Cottage of the Year and it’s awesome. I love how the home is an open floor plan and has covered porches and breezeways leading to separate bedroom wings. Today we are going to take a closer look at the Cottage plan and some images provided by Southern Living of the finished and decorated home, couldn’t you just move in? I know I could. Enjoy!!!

I really like how all the common rooms are in one open room with a fireplace on one end and the staircase leading upstairs on the other end. Notice the walkway to the guest room is a screened porch and a windowed vestibule leading to the Master suite.

Here we can see two more rooms upstairs above the main living area and a loft area with its own staircase over the downstairs guest room.

Here we see the furnished living area facing the fireplace on the left end of the main floor.

The dining area is behind the living area, love the wall treatment throughout the downstairs.

The kitchen is across the back of the main floor living and dining area.

Beautiful bedroom, not sure if it’s the guest room or master suite but it’s wonderful.

A great place to end the day.

A beautiful front porch to sit on is always a welcome sight.
