For many people, I know the trend in homes seems to be either stay with what you have or if they are building it’s to build something smaller and more manageable, that’s why I was very intrigued by the Sugarberry Cottage house plan from Southern Living. At 1,679 square feet, three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, this house would be perfect for a family of two that has family who visits or a family with one or two children. As always I love the screened in porch and the large front porch across the front of the house, the Sugarberry would also make a great country getaway or lake house. Let’s check out this little gem, Enjoy!!!
As you can see the floor plan for Sugarberry Cottage is a very open plan with the kitchen and living room easily flowing into each other, you can also have a table and chairs out in the screened porch area to dine when weather permits.
Upstairs are two nice sized bedrooms and a bathroom to be shared.
The living room is on the front of the house with a fireplace as it’s anchor, lots of light from windows looking out on the front porch.
This view of the living room shows you how you can put a dining area on one side of the living room and the french doors heading out onto one of the two screened porches in this home.
The area beside the staircase is the perfect spot for a table and chairs. I probably wouldn’t have the built-in piece but would instead leave that blank for a great piece of art or a large mirror to make the room feel more open.
This kitchen isn’t large by any means but has everything you need including an island that provides a great workspace as well as a place to eat when there’re only a couple of people at home. The open shelving helps the small space feel larger as do the all white cabinets and tile.
A glimpse inside the master bedroom shows us there’s plenty of room to be comfortable.
The master bathroom has two sinks and a walk-in shower, there’s a large walk-in closet located back in the bedroom.
Here’s a peek upstairs at one of the two bedrooms, a perfect spot for twin beds and guests.
With a large front porch and two screened porches, there’s lots of room to take living to the outdoors and enjoy warm days and cool nights.
Here’s a look at the front exterior of the house from the side with the screened porch. LOVE IT!!!!
