Bedside Sconces

We are currently working on our bedroom in our home, rearranging the furniture, painting the room, maybe some wallpaper, new bedding and curtains, and lighting. Michael and I are both readers and we like to read in bed before calling it a night but I’m not always crazy about using lamps on the bedside tables. For one thing, the light never is where I want it to be for reading and the lamps take up space on top of the bedside table that I would rather have for something else, so I’m seriously considering some wall mounted sconces beside the bed. I like how the sconces look, I like how they have swing-arms allowing you to move them to best illuminate what you’re reading and I like how you can push them out of the way. I began looking at Swing Arm Wall Lamps and found some wonderful and well-priced designs at Lampsplus.com, so today I’m sharing a few images of what I’m talking about and of what I’ve found and what I’m leaning towards. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

This is the type of headboard we have, with sides that stick out like on a wingback chair and it’s hard to get the light where you want it. (via)

At first, this is what I thought I wanted, the Easley Matte Bronze Swing Arm Lamp,  something simple, brown and safe but then I shopped more and found so much more.

I love the Industrial Cage Plug-In Swing Arm Lamp, just not sure it goes with the decor of the bedroom. This lamp would definitely be fun somewhere, maybe by your favorite chair or a pair mounted on either side of a mirror in a powder bath.

I really like the Possini Euro Marca Chrome Espresso Wall Lamp, I love anything that combines wood and metal together in one design. This lamp is just very chic looking with some masculine touches.

For a little more industrial look the Svende Oil Rubbed Bronze Swing Arm Wall Lamp is very cool. I like the all metal construction of the lamp and you can use the industrial looking bulbs and see them through the lampshade.

When I first saw the Franklin Iron Works Marlowe Lamp I thought, “this is the one”. But, after exploring further I think there’s definitely others that I like better. I can so see this though in a mountain home or lake cabin.

This is the Richford Polished Brass Swing Arm Wall Lamp. I like that it’s brass since the wallpaper it would be mounted on has some gold flecking in it, I love the brown marble sphere at the bottom of the lamp and the shade is described as a dark taupe with some metallic in it. I’m using grays and browns in the room so this would be perfect. Oh, I also like that it comes with a metal cord cover to cover the cord from the lamp to the outlet.

I just really like the look of these lamps, don’t you???? (via)

Right now I think I’ve narrowed it down to two choices, I’ll let you know when I decide for sure and of course, I’ll share pics of the finished product. Have a great Tuesday!!!
