Today we are looking at Fernando Botero, a beautiful new book from author Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz Fisac and distributed by Assouline Publishing. Botero is regarded as one of the greatest and the most recognized artist from Latin American and with very good reason. At this point in his career, Botero has created more than 3,000 paintings and 200 sculptures and his work is known worldwide because of the specific look of “Boteroism”. ┬áThis book looks at not only the breadth of work by Botero but we also get to hear from the artist himself and he talks about not ever really “knowing” how to paint and how an artist can never lose the drive to develop one’s own personal style. One amazing thing about this book is that we are able to see works by Botero that have never before been published. The book is by author Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz Fisac, an author, critic, and curator who has written for Assouline Publishing before and she has also previously written on Botero as well as curated exhibits of his work. If you have an art lover on your gift list or someone that loves Botero this would be an amazing gift this holiday season. Check out the Assouline website here for more information on Fernando Botero , in the meantime here are some images from the book and Assouline, Enjoy!!!
