I wanted to take today, Veterans Day, and thank those who have served our country in military service. Veterans Day is celebrated every year on November 11, this is the day the armistice was signed that ended World War I in 1918. I’ve shared with you before on the blog how proud I am of my family’s military service, my father served in the United States Army as did two of his brothers and my dad’s father (my grandfather) served in WWI in France. Today is the day we remember those men and women who have worked and fought to keep our country free and to help spread the word of democracy and what a great thing it can be. Today I want to share works by one of my favorite American artists, Norman Rockwell. Rockwell was known for his portrayals of American life and many times that included taking a look at the lives of Americans serving in the military around the world. Rockwell was known for being able to inject both humor and drama in his artworks, making us smile at the subjects while also making us want to reach out to them and hold their hand or give them a hug. Join me today for a look at veterans created by the paintbrush of an American legend, and if you are a vet, Thank You for your service. Enjoy!!!
