12 Homes Going Big With Art

Have you ever had a big blank space on a wall and weren’t sure what to do with it? Are you not really into a gallery wall made up of several different pictures and different frames? Maybe you need to think about one large piece of art, big art can have a HUGE impact in a room. Art doesn’t always have to be expensive, remember if you like it and it’s not a million dollars it’s OK, use it. We have a couple of different large French posters we’ve bought over the years that have been moved all around our house, they are among some of our favorite things and we’ll probably always use them. I recently bought a large painting for our bedroom that hasn’t been hung yet, it’s done in the color palette I’m using to decorate the room and it leans more towards contemporary, a type of design I’m trying to incorporate into our home. Big pieces of art bring drama to a room, you can make them even more dramatic by choosing something with bright bold colors or you can take a cue from the rest of the decor of your room. There’s also the theory that you can buy a piece of art and use it as the inspiration for your room, pull colors from the art for fabrics, rugs, and accessories. Today we are going to take a look at some rooms with “Big Art” and see how it’s done. Have a great day and Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Sometimes a large image like this black and white painting used with a color like lots of red is the best way to make a huge impact in a room. (via)

Big art is a great way to get lots of color on your wall and in your home without having to commit to a bright room color. (via)

Photographs are a great way to get big art into your home. If you have a favorite photo from a trip or something look into blowing it up at places like Kinko’s and framing it. (via)

This is a great example of using colors in the artwork on the walls to inspire accessories like pillows and the rug. (via)

I have a thing for orange and I love how the greens in the painting work with the rug and the oranges work with the pillows on the sofa. (via)

This painting is so beautiful, all the bright colors paired with a neutral colored piece of furniture. (via)

It is possible to use large pieces with smaller pieces to create a gallery wall. (via)

I love the juxtaposition here of using a contemporary painting with a traditional chest of drawers. Very simple and elegant. (via)

This is a beautiful room, very neutral in decoration except for the punch of color on the wall. The painting is large but the colors aren’t overwhelming. (via)

A large work of art works beautifully with a more minimal style of decorating. (via)

This wonderful image shows how combining a wonderful contemporary piece of art with traditional furniture creates a beautiful room. (via)

Words are my own.
