Recently I did a series of posts on the Modern Farmhouse trend in design and home decor and in doing that series I ran across the work of Interior Designer Robert Stilin. Stilin is based in New York and has more than 25 years experience in designing and decorating homes in his seemingly effortless style. Stilin is known for creating casual elegance using antiques and contemporary art along with clean architecture. Stillin’s design work has run the gamut from beach front homes to country houses and a penthouse office in the Meatpacking District of New York City. Today I thought we would take a look at the work of Robert Stilin, see how he combines old and new to get that perfect look, Enjoy!!!

Amagansett Family Compound, The Hamptons, NY

I love the use of color in accessories and artwork against a neutral backdrop of walls, ceiling, and floor.

There’s lots of wonderful geometry going on in this bedroom with the lines of the paneling on the walls and ceiling and the stripes of the rug against the squares of the rooms carpet.

Tribeca Loft, New York City, NY

This is one of the most wonderful kitchens, everything I would want. I love how Stilin incorporated the support beam and columns into the design.

Beach House, The Hamptons, New York

The use of wood and industrial elements, like the barstools, combine with the beautiful upholstery of vintage chairs to create a wonderful open room.

I love the use of large artwork seen above and below and throughout much of the designs by Robert Stilin.
