Getting The Blues: Dark Blue (or Navy)

June 21, 2017

On Monday we looked at Light Blue, yesterday was a medium shade of Blue, Chambray and today we are looking at Dark Blue which is one of my favorites, Navy Blue. Navy Blue for me is a wonderful rich color, it coordinates well with other colors like white, orange, gray, light blue and on and on. Navy Blue can give you the dark mysterious feeling you might want for a room without going to black, Navy Blue is also a great accent color in decorating for fabrics, lamps, and accessories. I also think Navy Blue makes a wonderful backdrop for metallics, both gold and silver look wonderful against Navy Blue, think a gilded mirror on a Navy Blue wall. If you want to add some drama to your decorating but are tired of black then be sure and check out your Navy Blue options as in dramatic Navy Blue hallway in the above photo. Now join me for a look at some more beautiful Dark Blue room decorating, let me know your thoughts on Navy and Enjoy!!! (above image via)

This photo is a beautiful example of how wonderful metallics look against Navy Blue. With just 2 pieces, the coffee table, and mirror, drama is added to an already dramatically colored room. (via)

One thing we are seeing more and more of is the two color combination when it comes to kitchen cabinetry. Here we have a classic white kitchen with an added twist of Navy Blue lower cabinets. (via)

I can’t tell you how much I love this room, lots of clean, crisp white with brass and black accents and a big Dark Blue Velvet sofa to anchor the room. Simple and elegant. (via)

This is a great look at how Navy Blue and Gray work together. This bathroom is calm and classic with White Penny Round Tiles on the floor and Gray paint on the wall, the Navy Blue vanity is the perfect punch of drama and color this room needed. (via)

This is an excellent way to get some color and drama in a bathroom, these Navy Blue tiles with white grout are eye-catching and fun. (via)

Kitchen islands are still one of the best ways to get color in your kitchen. Here we see an all white kitchen perked up with a Navy Blue Island and lots of brass on the kitchen hardware and light fixtures. (via)

Remember, there’s more than one way to get color on your walls. Here we have Navy Blue grasscloth wallpaper on the upper portions of the walls, this allows you to not only get color on the walls but also texture. (via)

I’ve said it before, powder bathrooms are a great place to do something fun and dramatic, this powder bath with Navy walls, a marble sink, and brass accents is gorgeous. (via)

Here’s a great look at another room that is predominately white but gets lots of color and drama from using Navy Blue as an accent color. The color is used on throw pillows throughout the room as well as lamps, and a garden stool side table. (via)

Words are my own.

Entire rooms are too dark for my taste but gorgeous. I love it as an accent color and that shower is fantabulous!!!!!!!!

We’re going to paint our lounge a dark blue/green called Ancient Mariner – just done the test pot and it looks amazing. Dark colours scare some folks but if you get the accessories and lighting right you’ll have a warm and sophisticated room.
