Revisiting Cool and Vibrant: Decorating with Green & Blue

July 10, 2017

By Tab Byrum

A friend of mine recently suggested I post some of my earlier articles from when I started the blog three years ago for people who are just discovering Tabulous Design and these hot summer months seemed to be the best time to do it. I’ll still be posting new articles as well but today we begin revisiting some earlier articles with a look at Blue and Green. Enjoy!!!

I’ve recently noticed a trend both among my clients color interest, the decorating industry, and fashion, a trend towards using the color combination of blue and green.

One of my newest clients expressed an interest in using the blue/green combo when we had our first meeting to discuss redoing her formal living area, and a long time client chose blue (well her husband chose blue) for the main color in the redecoration of their upstairs game room. Both projects are in the works and I’ll update you here as soon as we’ve made progress.

So, with both those jobs in mind, I’ve begun the search for fabrics of the blue/green variety, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how many choices I had. (above image via)

I always like to start with something like fabric or a rug for a room.  In those two things, you can usually find a  jumping off point for a room.  From the fabric or, rug you can pull other colors for paint choices, accessories, lampshades, artwork, etc.

I’ve also noticed a lot of these cool color combos in fashion, both men and women’s.

Personally, I like these colors.  As I get older I find myself drawn towards blue and I think green is an amazing color and always tell my clients to look at green as a neutral, I mean Mother Nature has painted the world green, blending all shades of it together and then throws in lots of different colors on top of it.

What are your thoughts:  Yes or No on the blue/green color combination.

Beautiful fabrics. I have added green to 3 rooms in my home and it goes with everything, Neutrals, blues or black/whites. Great Blog. Will look for it daily! It is like leafing through a magazine with a section on blues and greens.
