Rockefeller Maine Getaway For Sale

August 3, 2017

A few weeks I told you about the New York City home of David Rockefeller that recently came up for sale for $32.5 million dollars and I recently found out about another piece of Rockefeller real estate that came onto the market, Ringing Point. Ringing Point is the name given to the house and grounds in Maine that David and his wife Peggy owned on Mount Desert Island. The house has seven bedrooms and was designed by Peggy Rockefeller in 1972, in addition to the main house there is a guest house with its own two car garage and a building that Rockefeller used for his private study. Mrs. Rockefeller also took great pride in the gardens she designed on the grounds of the estate and they flow effortlessly into the natural moss covered ground and soaring pine trees. As you’ll see in the images I’m sharing today the house is fairly simple compared to the NYC townhouse I shared with you in June and has a wonderful warm feeling to it. If you decide to buy let me know, I’d love to come for a visit, for now, join me for a photographic tour. Enjoy!!!

The home was designed by Peggy Rockefeller and sits in a shaded area of Mount Desert Island.

The home has seven bedrooms and amazing views from all rooms, green and blue as far as the eye can see.

The home has a casual feel to it with lots of wonderful wood textures and color combinations like the red and blue living room.

From the sofa in the living room, you can see out past the trees to Great Harbor.

The kitchen is very “normal” except for all of the appliances being utility grade Wolf appliances. Love the gingham wallpaper.

Off of the kitchen is a casual sitting area with wicker furniture and a lovely fireplace.

I love the grounds around the house and island, tall trees, and moss covered rocks and grounds.

Just one of the seven bedrooms in the home, open and airy rooms with some like this one featuring a fireplace.

This wood paneled room is the perfect place for a cocktail, a good book, and probably a nap.

The home has a granite swimming pool that is surrounded by gardens designed by the mistress of Ringing Point.

Another view of the beautiful gardens.

An aerial view of Mount Desert Island shows you the natural beauty of this Maine landscape.

Words are my own.
