My New Bedroom Drapes

November 20, 2017

A few weeks ago I shared with you that we had gotten new bedding, a friend of mine has sewn for me for clients for several years and she and her husband were retiring and moving to Utah so I had her do this one last thing for me. The bedding turned out awesome and I am so happy and proud of it. I also had her make drapes for the bedroom windows but we didn’t get those hung immediately but we did this past weekend. I’m so happy with how they turned out and want to share how they look as well as share some pics of artwork I’ve hung in the bedroom as well. I’ll go into more detail with the pictures. Have a great Monday and Enjoy!!!

I had the drapes made out of the same menswear suit fabric that I had some of the pillows and bed skirt made out of on the bed. Below you can see a closeup of the pillows that are monogrammed.

I had the leading edge of the drapes done in Chocolate Brown grosgrain ribbon.

Here’s a better look at the fabric and ribbon of the drapes and below you can see where we did the Euro shams on the bed with the same brown ribbon to tie the two together.

I used dark wooden rings on the drapes and ordered Brass curtain rods from West Elm to tie into some brass and gold elements we’re using in the room.

Here’s a better look at most of the room. I still want to change out the main light fixture in the room, maybe something with brass on it and wallpaper the wall behind the bed.

I found this perfect painting at a local design center a while back and bought it. The painting has all the colors of the room, Gray, White, Brown, and Gold. I’m also wanting to change out the baseboards throughout the house to a wider board that looks more now.

This piece of art glass was a happy accidental find, it was at Home Goods for less than twenty dollars. Works perfectly with all the colors in the room.

I found this framed image of men’s riding habits in a local antique store and bought it, the subject matter and colors work great in the bedroom.

You’ll have to excuse the dog bed in the lower left corner but this image gives you an idea of how the bed, drapes, and artwork all look. To the right of the window are two antique photos of Charlie Chaplin, one of them I bought in Santa Fe probably 25 years ago and the other I ordered from Conde Nast. Now we just have to get that wallpaper done behind the bed, maybe in the New Year.

I always think it’s fun to see what people are doing in their personal spaces and I hope you’re enjoying this look as we work in this room. Have a great day and I’ll see you back here tomorrow. Buen Dia!!!
