Winter Wonderland Front Door

I know we still need to celebrate Thanksgiving later this week but I have to be honest and tell you I’ve been decorating for some of my clients for Christmas. Many people that don’t host Thanksgiving in their homes or travel for Thanksgiving have me go ahead and decorate so they are ready to kick off the Christmas season as soon as the dishes are put away and the leftovers have been wrapped up in the refrigerator. One of my Christmas clients asked me to change their front door decorations to something that they could leave up for the next several months until we get to Spring, so she asked me to do a Winter theme, I gave a sneak peek on my Instagram account here. The client and I are both happy with how this turned out, they are gone this week for Thanksgiving and I texted her photos after I finished. I stuck with a white and silver color theme, I’ll go into more detail below with the photos. I hope this puts you in the mood, Enjoy!!!

I started this door with the white and silver mesh ribbon, I added that to the grapevine we keep up year round as a base for me to build on for the different times of the year.

I bought six large boughs of frosted greenery that had white pinecones as well as white branches and a white ornament. I added these boughs to the top center of the door decoration, the two corners and halfway down each side.

I added large snowflakes to different parts of the garland.

I then added two of the white leafy garlands, one to each side of the garland. This gave the sides some interest and depth.

Here’s a better look at the greenery with the white elements in it.

I also added some small snowflakes across the top of the garland. In this photo, you can also see the silver spiky garland I added and the LED lights. These door decorations are all about layering one element on top of the others but always letting those on the bottom still show through.

These two large ornaments are in the center of the garland, right over the front door. I added one smaller silver ornament in the center of them to cover the wires holding it all up.

In this shot, you can get a look at it all from sitting on the front porch. The clients recently had their front doors refinished and the lighter and brighter door decoration really lets the doors shine through.

You can recreate this door as is or in whatever color scheme you are doing. It would be gorgeous in shades of red or add some Blue to the White and Silver.

I hope this gives you some inspiration for decorating your own home and remember to follow me on Instagram here at Tabulous Design. Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow. Enjoy!!!
