Mad For Indigo

I’ve talked a lot on the blog about the color Blue, whether it’s Navy Blue, Tiffany Blue, Sky Blue, blue pottery, blue cabinets, you get the gist. Recently I’ve been seeing a lot about the Blue hue¬†known as Indigo and decided to delve into it. Indigo is a deep, rich color and is one of the colors of a rainbow. Indigo is between Blue and Violet in the color spectrum and it gets its name from the Indigo Dye that is made from the plant, Indigofera Tinctoria and was first used around 1289. Today Indigo is a very popular color, both in the world of Fashion and in Interior Design, it works very well with other colors like yellow, green, gold, silver, pink and is strong enough to stand on its own. I always think of Indigo as a good pair of blue jeans. Today we are going to take a look at some uses of Indigo in design and how Indigo appears in our everyday lives, color is all around us, you just have to stop and look for it. In the coming days, we’ll look at how Indigo is used in home decor and decorating but for today just let it soak in. Enjoy!!! (above via)
