Royal Wedding ~ Wedding Reception #1, St. George’s Hall

We are winding down our look at anything and everything that has to do with this weekend’s upcoming Royal Wedding. There’s been a little bit of scandal here towards the end of our wait with the Bride’s Father deciding he’s not going to attend the wedding after he was involved with some tabloid photographers. But, as the English saying says, “Keep Calm and Carry On”. Today we are going to look at Windsor Castle where the wedding will take place in St. George’s Chapel and then a wedding breakfast or reception will follow in the castle itself in St. George’s Hall. There will be a second reception/party the night of the wedding being given by Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, at Frogmore House and we’ll look at that venue tomorrow. For our look at Windsor we are looking back at a post I did on Windsor Castle 2 years ago after Michael and I had visited the castle earlier. Click here to visit the post on Windsor Castle

Above is a picture of St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, this will be the venue for the Wedding Reception or Breakfast immediately following the wedding. St. George’s Hall is 180 feet long and its architecture is Gothic in style. The room is decorated with weapons and suits of armor as well as the shields of all the current and past Knights of The Most Noble Order of the Garter, you can see the shields on the ceiling and the walls on the right. The hall is often used for State Banquets held at Windsor Castle as well as large parties and some military events are held here. This is a beautiful place for a reception and will be amazing filled with people in bright colors, big hats and of course wedding cake. To read more about the Hall and Castle, click here.
