New York City In June

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!!! I hope you had a great weekend and were able to celebrate Father’s Day if it pertains to you or if your Dad is still here to celebrate. I just got home from a fun trip to New York City and I wanted to share with you what we did, where we ate and shopped while we were there. I went to NYC with my friend Donna and her daughter Bella who recently turned 16, for her birthday Bella asked for a trip to NYC with her mom and me and we surprised her and made it happened. NYC in the Spring is always fun and last week the weather was hard to beat. We did A LOT of shopping since Bella had asked for money from her family for her birthday and she loaded up on fun clothes and accessories to wear this Summer and when school starts back in a couple of months. Join me for a quick tour of the Big Apple and I’ll do my best to share all of our fun. Enjoy!!!

My traveling companions to NYC just after we landed at La Guardia.

Our first night in NYC we visited TAO restaurant, their uptown location, and had amazing sushi and… (above via)

dessert of course. Bella and I both had the TAO Banana Pudding for dessert which is amazing. It’s made using crushed fortune cookies for a crust and sprinkled on top as well as two pieces of tempura fried banana on top.

On Tuesday morning we started our day at Chelsea Market which I’ve told you about before. Bella had never been here so we took her to check it out, we love all the amazing places to eat and all the fun booths run by individual artisans who sell their art, clothing, jewelry and so much more here. It’s so much fun to walk in NYC and admire all the architecture, old and new all mixed together.

I like to check out the Converse store in SoHo, they always have all the latest designs from the iconic shoe company. These are just a few of the fun designs we saw.

ABC Home is another of our favorite places in NYC, they always have the coolest products and displays like this tabletop display.

Tuesday night we had dinner at The Lobster Club, a relatively new restaurant in Manhattan. The food was amazing as is the decor, check out the scallops, mushrooms and Dragon Roll. The martinis aren’t bad either.

The interior of The Lobster Club is bright and fun, we sat at the booth on the far left at the back of the photo. (via)

We took a midnight stroll through Times Square after Tuesday night’s dinner.

Wednesday we stayed uptown in Manhattan and visited Tiffany’s and all the other high-end stores and had lunch at BG. BG is the restaurant on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman’s Department Store.

You always have to be on the lookout for celebrities in NYC, the actress Priyanka Chopra came in for lunch at BG and sat at the table right behind me. Bella snapped this photo in the mirrors along the walls of the restaurant.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ms. Chopra, she’s a former Miss World winner and an actress who was most recently in the Baywatch movie and Quantico TV series. The above photo is from the recent Royal Wedding where Ms. Chopra attended as a friend of Meghan Markle. She is stunning in person and every head in the restaurant turned as she walked through. I had the amazing Lobster Salad at BG for lunch.

The Chanel boutique is undergoing some construction and this is the front of the store until construction is done. A beautiful rendering of CoCo Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld.

We took Bella to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where we enjoyed a tour of the Old Master’s Gallery and the Impressionists Gallery where we saw works like this one of Waterlilies by Monet.

On our way back to our hotel we saw a large group of people and photographers outside the Peninsula Hotel so we checked it out. They were all waiting for John Travolta to come out on his way to tape an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

We got some great pictures, Donna climbed on a planter with my phone and took about 20 pics of Danny Zuko, aka John Travolta.

On Wednesday evening we went to dinner at The Monkey Bar in the Hotel Elysee. (via)

The restaurant has been in NYC since the 1940’s and is decorated with murals painted by artist Charlie Vella in the 1950’s.

Mom and Daughter enjoyed their last night on the town, now we are headed to a big surprise.

We surprised Bella with tickets to the new Broadway musical version of Mean Girls, one of her favorite movies.

The stage decoration is mainly made up of these electronic walls that show scenery and videos that are constantly changing as the scenes change.

If you’re going to be in NYC in the next several months I strongly urge you to see this fun show, especially if you have a teenager with you. FUN!!!!

As always, I love being in NYC for a few days but I’m glad to come home to wide open spaces and quiet but it’s always fun while it lasts. Until next time. Have a great day and Enjoy!!!
