Using Wicker All Year All The Time

I recently read an article about how people are turning to wicker furniture to use both inside and outside their homes all year long and I have to say I really like the idea. For several years I had a wicker trunk I bought at Pier 1 I used as a coffee table then moved it to the bedroom where it was storage and a base for a TV. I’ve always loved the charm of an old beautiful piece of wicker furniture, whether it’s a single chair with lovely curves and a great bright cushion or maybe a wicker table with a glass top sitting next to a chair holding a lamp and a vase of flowers with space for your drink. Wicker pieces come in all sizes, colors, and styles and have traditionally been used on patios, porches and all kinds of outdoor areas but why not bring a favorite piece in the house? Maybe place a favorite piece in a corner of the living room with a beautiful new seat cushion that goes with your decor or maybe a piece in the corner of your bedroom. Wicker and rattan don’t have to be just for sitting, today you can also find wicker tables, desks, coffee tables and much more, both new and vintage. Today we are going to take a look at some photos of wicker used in homes as well as some pieces available from a wonderful vendor in France, Atelier Vime. So join me for a look at wicker and how you can incorporate it into your home, both outside and inside. Enjoy!!! (image via)

Here’s an excellent example of using a wicker chair in the house. The chair has been painted a color used in the interior of the home and fabric has been used on the cushion of the chair as well to make a pillow. (via)

White wicker is always sharp and clean looking and what better place for it than on this beautiful sunporch with a gorgeous lake view. Blue and white fabrics have been used and coordinate beautifully with the blue of the lake. (via)

A corner of this Craftsman home has been decorated using vintage wicker and it looks perfectly suited for the spot. (via)

Of course, beautiful wicker baskets never go out of style. I love baskets tucked under console tables, great rattan chairs fill the corners of this hallway. (via)

Atelier Vime

Atelier Vime has gorgeous pieces of wicker and rattan, many of them vintage pieces. Check out these gorgeous pieces from the different collection at AV.

This Rattan Marquetry Enfilade is a beautiful piece and would be amazing in the right spot. A bonus here is lots of extra storage. (via)

These two chairs and the console table at the back of the room are vintage pieces, designed by Georges Coslin from 1956. (via)

This Rattan and Black Glass Desk/Console is a very smart looking piece. It’s from around 1950 and would make a great desk for someone or a console table on a small wall. (via)

This Rattan Marquetry Side Table is from around 1960 and was made in the South of France. A great piece for beside a chair with storage below for books and magazines. (via)

I know it’s not wicker but I had to share this small Rope Table Lamp, it just spoke to me. (via)

Words are my own.
