Introducing: ShanTabulous STuidos

October 8, 2018

By Tab Byrum

This past weekend you may have seen if we’re friends on Facebook that I shared some news and photos from ShanTabulous STudios and if you did YAY!!! ShanTabulous is a new venture I’ve taken on with a friend of mine, Shana Myers, who is an Artist and Calligrapher here in Oklahoma City and has Ink Stained Fingers. Shana has a thriving business doing Calligraphy for parties and weddings and we’ve known each other for close to 20 years. I approached Shana a while back about combining our talents, hers in art and calligraphy and mine in florals and holiday work, and create something we could sell and would enjoy doing. We’re starting with the signs I’m sharing with you today but hope to have some wreaths for both indoor and outdoor as well as more signs for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We are going for an elegant look on some of our stuff as well as a Vintage or Retro look. We will be offering personalization on our boards and wreaths so if you want something specific with a greeting and your last name let us know. Everything is hand-painted front and back and the images are also hand-painted onto the boards. Shana does all our Calligraphy by hand, NO STENCILS OR PEEL AND STICK letters here. We now have an Etsy store up that you can view here and we’ll be adding a few more Halloween images later this week and get the other holiday merchandise up ASAP. Join me now for a look at these first five signs and let us know what you think, we hope you’re as excited about our products as we are. Enjoy!!!

Today we are going to look at some of the fun stuff from Grandin Road that really stood out to me this year, from spooky tombstones to flaming pumpkins, and one of my faves, silhouettes. Pumpkin Cookie Jar

Sorry, for not posting in several days but you know how it is, had a lot going on here and unfortunately, I didn’t plan well very far ahead. But, I’m back and have lots of fun and wonderful things planned to share with you from the world of design.

Today we are starting with a look at a wonderful artist I’ve made friends with, Sharon Bloom. Sharon has Sharon Bloom Designs in Winters, California and she simply adores Halloween. Sharon says she has loved the spooky holiday as long as she can remember and she not only creates wonderful Halloween creations but she also collects Halloween folk art which she displays in her home year round. Sharon’s artistic background is in painting and today she expresses that through her amazing ceramics and Halloween paintings. Sharon creates one of a kind holiday figures that are collected by people around the world and she shows her wares every year at the prestigious annual “All Hallows Art Festival” in Petaluma, California coming up on September 29th. If you can’t make it to Petaluma you can visit Sharon’s shop on Etsy here and as a special Halloween treat Sharon Bloom Designs is having a special offering of her Halloween ornaments starting tonight on her Instagram page at #shopsharonbloomdesigns

Happy Labor Day 2018

September 3, 2018

By Tab Byrum

A hundred times every day I remind myself that my
inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men,
living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order
to give in the same measure as
I have received and
am still receiving.

HAVE A HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!

Harvest Pumpkin Collection @ Williams Sonoma

August 20, 2018

By Tab Byrum

School has started back here in Oklahoma and it’s only two weeks until Labor Day, a time when our thoughts turn to all things Fall and Pumpkiny. With that in mind, we are going to look at a gorgeous new collection of dishes from Williams Sonoma, the Harvest Pumpkin Collection. The designs for this collection are based on Dutch still life paintings with their vibrant colors of oranges, greens, whites, reds, and purples all on an elegant and timeless black background. All of the pieces in the collection are porcelain glazed in black and with a hand-painted 14-karat gold painted rim. In addition to plates for eating there are also serving pieces and a gorgeous cheeseboard. All of these would be amazing to mix with your existing dishes and as always they would be gorgeous decorative pieces hanging on the wall. Join me today for a look at several pieces from the WS Harvest Pumpkin Collection, I’m anxious to hear what you think, Enjoy!!!

Greens Only

July 25, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I don’t know if I would call today’s post a trend or not but it’s a look I like and enjoy more and more. I LOVE fresh flowers but sometimes I like an arrangement made of just greens and foliage, I’ve been seeing this look used a lot in weddings. Just having a vase or container of greens is much more streamlined and depending on the greens it can be very architectural. There are all kinds of beautiful leaves to choose from, most of them all tropical. You can use Hosta Leave, Monstera Leaves, Banana Plant Leaves, Aspidistra Leaves, and Pittosporum. Today we are going to take a look at different arrangements and I’ll try to focus on certain greenery in future posts. Just remember, plants and flowers bring life and color to a room but you don’t always have to break the bank or go overboard. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

June 25, 2018

By Tab Byrum

If you decorate for the 4th of July I definitely think you can leave it out for the entire Summer months, most of the holidays we have in the Summer have a patriotic theme to them. As I’ve told you before a Red, White and Blue color scheme is one of my favorite color combinations and I like to use it in everyday home decor, just not in a literal patriotic way. Today I want to share some of the fun things Pottery Barn has to offer this Summer for all your decorating and entertaining needs during the 4th of July holidays and could easily take you through the Summer and into Labor Day. New York City In June

June 18, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!!! I hope you had a great weekend and were able to celebrate Father’s Day if it pertains to you or if your Dad is still here to celebrate. I just got home from a fun trip to New York City and I wanted to share with you what we did, where we ate and shopped while we were there. I went to NYC with my friend Donna and her daughter Bella who recently turned 16, for her birthday Bella asked for a trip to NYC with her mom and me and we surprised her and made it happened. NYC in the Spring is always fun and last week the weather was hard to beat. We did A LOT of shopping since Bella had asked for money from her family for her birthday and she loaded up on fun clothes and accessories to wear this Summer and when school starts back in a couple of months. Join me for a quick tour of the Big Apple and I’ll do my best to share all of our fun. Enjoy!!!
