This week kind of got away from me and I didn’t get the tablescape done that I had planned but I wanted to share table decorations that I came up with a couple of years ago for an Easter table. Everything I used in this tablescape was from the Dollar Store, Big Lots, and Dollar General except for the fresh flowers which you can easily pick up at the grocery store. This decoration was quick, simple, fun and full of bright colors. Remember, you can take any of the ideas from the table and use any one or more of them for your dining table at home, buffet table or even a kid’s table.

Easter is this Sunday and if you are needing some last minute ideas for decorations around the house or on your dining table then I’ve got some ideas for you. One great place to start is Pier 1, almost all major cities have a Pier 1 and of course, you can order online, although it may be a little late now. Pier 1 always has great choices in Holiday decorations for all seasons and today we are going to take a look at a few of the many and wonderful choices they have in Rabbits and Bunnies. Pier 1 has rabbits that are cute and homey and rabbits that look very high end as well as some that are very “artsy” looking. Any of these rabbits and bunnies can be combined with decorations you already own or you can pick up some of the other great decorating items Pier 1 has in stock. Join me for a trip down the bunny trail as we pay Peter Rabbit a visit, Enjoy!!!
I’m trying to come up with more holiday oriented posts for the blog, especially ones that include homemade merchandise that isn’t too difficult or too expensive to make. Back during the Christmas holidays I shared a homemade wreath I made for our front door and at the time I made a note to myself that this could easily be done for other holidays. With that in mind, I loaded up on ornaments, especially shatterproof, at the after Christmas sales, all of today’s ornaments came from At Home. But, unfortunately, life and work got in the way and Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day passed by and I didn’t’ get the wreaths done that I wanted to so I promised myself that I would DEFINITELY do a wreath for Easter and I made it yesterday. This really is an easy recipe to make this wreath, you need a wreath form, a spring colored garland to wrap the form, ornaments to hot glue to the garland and anything else you want to add for the holiday you’re doing, I used Easter eggs and chicks. For a step by step how to, you can revisit my Christmas Wreath post here and I’ve included some pictures of the finished product. Let me know what you think, I’m seriously thinking about making these to sell, thoughts? Enjoy!!!
I’m in the middle of planning a trip to New York City later next month and I was excited to recently learn about the Mr. Chocolate Museum that’s run by Master Pastry Chef and Chocolatier, Jacques Torres. So, of course, I got to digging around and found all the goodies he currently has up for grabs for Easter and knew I had to share them with you. These are some of the cutest chocolate creations I’ve seen, I think the thing that is so appealing to me about them is that they are very simple and not SO over the top. They are all shapes that many of us grew up associating with Easter and for some of us they are shapes we saw every day in our lives. I’ve already texted and emailed friends telling them they need to order certain things for their kids, the chocolate pig, and I want to share it all with you today. I’ll tell you all about Jacques Torres and the Chocolate Museum next month after we visit, in the meantime, Enjoy!!!
It’s never too early to think ahead, in this case, three weeks from yesterday is Easter so you may as well go ahead and start thinking about getting ready for the big Spring holiday. I have several ideas that I want to share with you over the next couple of weeks but I thought we would start today by looking at one of my favorite places for Easter treats, Williams-Sonoma. WS always has awesome candies and baked goods done up in beautiful packaging for you to serve or give as gifts. Let’s flip through the Williams~Sonoma catalog and see what’s available, and remember the sooner you order the better to be assured the items will reach your house by Easter. Enjoy!!!
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love Peonies, that beautiful Spring flower created by layer after layer of delicate petals that gives off a glorious scent and when opened fully looks like a magnificent ballgown. I was trying to decide on a post to do today to wind up the week and at the same time I’m working on a party that a client is throwing in their home this weekend, one of the requests of the hostess is that I use lots of peonies in the arrangements I’m doing around the house. Peonies have inspired people for centuries appearing in paintings and floral arrangements and of course today we can gather a more permanent version of peonies in wallpaper. Today I want to share some beautiful images of peonies with you as well as both some beautiful and whimsical images of peonies onwallpaper. I hope you get some inspiration and bring some peonies to your house this Spring, have a great weekend and Enjoy!!! (above image via)
The last time I went to LA it was on a trip with friends and we stayed at the Hotel Bel Air, while we were there we had dinner one night and breakfast every morning at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant located in the hotel’s courtyard. I wanted Michael to see this beautiful place and experience the wonderful food and atmosphere so I made reservations for us at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel Air for 6 o’clock. (above image via)
Happy Valentines Day!!!! There’s nothing for me that says Valentines more than vintage Valentine cards, and the more puns the better. I love the artwork of vintage cards and the sayings they came up with, the fact that kids are usually used as well as all the inanimate objects and animals that suddenly have voices. I thought today in celebration of Valentines Day we would take a look at some vintage cards and their messages. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day, Enjoy!!! (above image via)
Tomorrow is Valentines Day and I’m busy today working on flowers and gifts clients have ordered for their wives and kids. One item that is always popular for Valentines is roses, the flower that seems to be associated with the holiday of love more than anything else, so I thought today we would take a look at roses used in decorating and home decor. I love roses, I love their scent, all the colors and their look made up of layer upon layer of petals. There are so many different kinds of roses, from the always beautiful garden rose, tea roses, wild roses and the manicured fresh cut rose we are all used to seeing in fresh bouquets. Join me today for a look at roses out of a vase of water and I’ll see you tomorrow for Valentines. Enjoy!!! (above image via)
Happy December 23rd, I hope everyone finds themselves healthy and happy two days before Christmas. I have a few more errands to run today, you know there are always lots of loose ends to tie up before the big day gets here. I’ll be taking a few days off from the blog to be with family and friends but I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. This has been a very tumultuous year for all of us, not only did we have THE most volatile and angry Presidential election in modern American history but there have also been disturbing events around the world. There are definitely times when I think the world was better off when we didn’t know what was going on at such a rapid rate, today something happens on one side of the earth and we know about it on the other side within minutes. I by no means think we shouldn’t be informed or keep ourselves ignorant but if nothing else we need to be more tolerant and stop and think before reacting to others. The morning after the election I thought a lot about my mother’s life motto, “Nothing is ever as good or bad as you think it’s going to be.” This has gotten me through a lot of things in my life and will as long as I live. But, there’s another phrase or two I think we need to remember, “Be Ye Kind To One Another” and perhaps the Golden Rule is the one we all need to practice a lot more, “Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.” But, whatever you believe I think we can all agree that we yearn for 2017 to be MUCH better than 2016, for now, enjoy the holidays along with your family and friends. I hope you have good food and drink and a warm place to partake of it all and I hope I’ve inspired you somehow this year as we look at design in our lives. I’ll be back next week, but for now, have a Merry Christmas and Enjoy!!!
