Maddy and Ryan’s Wedding, December 28, 2018

February 13, 2019

By Tab Byrum

With all the hubbub of the holidays and end of year stuff, I haven’t had a chance to post about the wedding I helped with at the end of Christmas week. My friend Shana from Ink Stained Fingers asked me to help her with the wedding of a friend’s daughter, Shanna is a calligrapher and creates a lot of items for weddings, from the invitations to napkins, seating charts, table numbers and so on. So, with her experience Shana had taken on the role of wedding planner, she knows I have experience with doing weddings, especially the flowers, so I did what I could to help create a beautiful night for this young couple. We used muted colors in the table settings with white tablecloths and gray and the bride’s grandfather made and painted wooden boxes that we used on half the tables to hold floral centerpieces I did. We had a gorgeous rustic arch on the stage of the venue that we draped half of it in sheer fabric and the other side was draped in a garland I made by hand and topped with a big arrangement of greenery and flowers I wired together. I’ll go into more detail with the photos and you’ll be glad to know Shana and I are hoping to do more weddings and parties together as we grow our business, more on that later. For now, Enjoy the wedding!!! (above via)

Champagne Cocktails For Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2019

By Tab Byrum

Champagne is one of my favorite wines and ways to celebrate and as we approach Valentine’s Day I thought it would be fun to look at a few versions of Champagne Cocktails. Champagne cocktails are when you combine Champagne with other wines or liqueurs to create something completely new. The first Champagne Cocktail I ever had was served at a friend’s house many years ago and was Champagne, Angostura Bitters on a sugar cube, drop the sugar cube into a Champagne glass and add the Champagne. Very good. Today there are lots of versions of a Champagne cocktail, some involve Brandy or other flavored liqueurs. Whatever recipe you prefer, have one or two this Valentine’s Day and Enjoy!!! Happy Monday!!!! Counting today it’s three days until Valentine’s Day and you definitely need to be thinking about what you are going to do with and for your Valentine. Today I’m going to share some fun and yummy Goodies, all from Williams Sonoma, that you can buy in your local store or order online and have for Valentine’s Day, and if you’re wondering I love Cinnamon Gummy anything and Chocolate anything…and Champagne. I’m Back, Hello February 2019!!!!

February 4, 2019

By Tab Byrum

Hello everyone and Hello February!!!! I hope all is good with all of you, sorry for the extended absence here in the ether but there was a lot going on and I decided to take a small hiatus. The holidays were good and very busy, we got everyone’s Christmas decor down and stored away for another year and then I had other stuff I needed to take care of, all of it good. There’s been a change in something I told you about last year but it’s a good change and I’ll go into more detail at a later date. Right now I’m working on getting things lined up for my clients for Valentine’s Day and I’m also working on some projects here at our casa. Michael and I are continuing to study Spanish on our own after taking Spanish classes 1, 2, 3 and 4 at a local Vo-Tech. We are studying using a couple of different apps and websites and making great strides. We don’t have any grand adventures planned this year but I’m sure that will change, not sure we’ll go to Europe this year but there are lots of places here America we have yet to see and visit so we may take short trips of 3 or 4 days and see some places and do some things we’ve been talking about for quite a while.

So, let’s talk February, the second month in the year and the month that most everyone equates with Valentine’s Day, cold weather, and the colors red and pink. I do like February, I’m starting to come out of my post-holiday slump and looking towards the new year ahead of us and hoping to accomplish a lot in the coming months. This year I’m hoping to make some changes here at the blog with the articles I write and the topics I cover. I’m wanting to do more with holidays and celebrations, decorating for these times and events, food, flowers, and sharing with you the things my friend Shana and I are creating for our Etsy shop and website (more on that next week). February is filled with chocolate, champagne, glitter and so much more so let’s take a look at a few things February, I’ll see you back here tomorrow. Enjoy!!!

Cranberry Orange Shortbread Cookies at Mom On Timeout

December 18, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I LOVE SHORTBREAD COOKIES, they are seriously one of my favorite cookies and they are SO versatile they can be dressed up with nuts, flavorings, and fruits or kept simple and timeless just as shortbread. I had recently seen a recipe for Orange Cranberry Shortbread on the Mom On Timeout website and I loved how they looked and wanted to see if they taste half as good as they look and they do!!!! We made them last Friday when I went to Mom and Dad’s for the day, the recipe is fairly simple and if you bake a lot you may have most everything needed except for Craisins. I’ll attach a link to the recipe for the cookies at the end of the photos and I’ll go into more detail on the cookies with the photos. If you like orange and tart cranberries then give these a try, they also have almond extract which is one of my favorite flavors. They’re slightly crunchy from the sugar on the outside but soft and chewy in the middle with little bites of berry and orange zest. SO GOOD!!!! Enjoy!!!

This year my crew and I decorated 14 houses and 2 businesses for Christmas, I try to share as much as I can along the way but sometimes I get busy and forget so I want to share them here today. This is just a small sample of what we’ve done and some of my favorites, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I’ll go into a little more detail with the photos, I hope you like them as much as I do. Enjoy!!!
