In celebration of March being Women’s History Month, we are looking at women who have made history in our world in the field of design. Today we are focusing on the life of a great American Interior Designer, Elsie de Wolf. de Wolf is known for eliminating the clutter of Victorian design and leading America into the 20 Century as well as creating the cocktail party. Made by hand in Virginia was all it took to get my attention in this time of all things “Made In China,” sometimes I feel like we’ve seen and read so many posts on bar carts that it might make me want to stop drinking (not really), but when I saw the Moore & Giles Side Car Bar Cart I knew I had to check this beauty out. The Side Car is composed of materials like walnut, leather, aluminum, and brass, with all these materials combined to create something out of an old movie that Cary Grant and William Powell would covet greatly. The Side Car has storage galore with a specific area to store needed supplies as well as a kind of inverted hanging glass rack to keep all your glassware safe and in line. The creation of the Side Car was a collaboration between Moore & Giles and cocktail connoisseur Jim Meehan. The Side Car is one of those times when form and function have come together to create a thing of beauty. I can’t wait to check out other merch from Moore & Giles, for now, I’m off to make a martini, Enjoy!!!
Spring and Summer are always great times to try new recipes that involve fruit, so much fresh produce is available at the grocery store and soon it will be time for the Farmer’s Markets to open up. One thing that’s fun to experiment with is cocktails using the fresh ingredients that are available, so I thought this month we would also look at different recipes for cocktails using strawberries. I tried to find recipes that weren’t a big mess to make or that required lots of equipment, I love a good strawberry margarita but I don’t always want to get out the blender or margarita machine. Here’s a peek at some recipes to try and remember this weekend is Mother’s Day so if you’re hosting lunch or brunch that’s the perfect time to serve some new, light and refreshing beverages. Remember to click on anything in orange to go to websites for recipes and instructions, Enjoy!!! (above image via)
Tonight we are attending our first holiday party for the 2015 Christmas season, it’s a cocktail party for Michael’s work and it’s at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. I love cocktail parties, I’ve helped give a few and they’re always fairly casual but with this one being at the Country Club you know it’ll be a dressier occasion. The holiday season is always a great time to play it up in the clothing department, you know things like bringing in color, where you would usually just opt for black and white, and while black is playing a prominent role in our clothing choices I did turn up the volume with color. I thought today we would take a look at some of the choices in clothing and styles when it come to “party clothes”, let me know what you’re wearing to parties this Christmas, is it all black head to toe or are you living dangerously and bringing in color, my motto is that it’s always better to be a little overdressed than underdressed, Enjoy!!!
Good day all, one week from today is the official ultimate food holiday in America, but instead of turkey and dressing I’m thinking about cocktails. Today we are going to look at some cocktail concoctions with the theme of Autumn and Thanksgiving, whether you’re dining with 2 people or 22, all friends, family or both sometimes you just need a tasty adult beverage, so join me today as we check out Thanksgiving Cocktails from the Food Network, Enjoy!!!
I’m sure you’ve been able to guess by now that I like a good cocktail and am always looking for any excuse to celebrate and have a drink, so I thought Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to mix up some cocktails. Since Valentines falls on Saturday this year it’s the perfect night to have friends over for a drink before everyone heads out for their romantic dinner, or maybe host your own little Valentine party.
I love champagne, and there’s no better holiday to indulge in a glass or 3 than New Years. While I really enjoy just a plain glass of the bubbly sometimes it’s fun to mix it up a bit and enjoy a champagne cocktail, today we’re taking a look at 9 champagne cocktail recipes from around the internet.
There’s quite a variety of recipes, the French 75 from New Orleans, a classic Champagne Cocktail made from bitters and a sugar cube added to bubbly or a Blood Orange Float with champagne and blood orange sorbet, I’ll have one of each please. I hope everyone has fun tonight whatever your plans may be. I think we will stay in at home and watch a movie, maybe have some steak and shrimp and watch the ball drop on television. Please be careful tonight and drink responsibly if you choose to partake. Happy New Year and Cheers!!! To see the recipes just click on the Orange title of each cocktail. Enjoy!!!
Today I thought we would take a look at some Thanksgiving cocktails, whether it’s something to enjoy just because you like a toddy with a seasonal twist or if you NEED it to get through spending the day with your family, these cocktails all fit the bill. From sweet cocktails to whisky based and punch, check these out and let me know what you think, Enjoy!!!
