10 Fall Cocktails: Round 1

September 27, 2017

By Tab Byrum

It has cooled off dramatically here in Oklahoma and it rained all day yesterday, it really feels like Fall is here. I thought we would take a look at some of the new cocktails created by mixologists across the country, especially those that focus on the flavors of the Fall season and that will work well with some of our favorite Fall appetizers and meals. We’re going to look at 10 cocktails, starting this morning with the first 5 and check back later today for the second 5 links and recipes. I’m not posting the recipes themselves but I am providing the link to the websites where I found the cocktails, just click on anything orange under the cocktails photo. OK, let’s start mixing, Enjoy!!! (above via)

Eating Out In San Miguel de Allende

September 20, 2017

By Tab Byrum

Let’s face it, one of the things we all look forward to when on vacation is what and where we are going to eat. We were not disappointed in the choices we had of places to dine in San Miguel, while we chose pretty much authentic Mexican for all of our meal choices we did branch out, especially at lunch, sometimes you get tired of chips and salsa and are wanting a good salad or maybe some pasta. Today I’m going to share with you a list and look at most of the restaurants we visited on our recent trip to San Miguel and I’ll try to remember what we ate where. I shared a lot of these on my Facebook page, here. For now, pull up a chair and Enjoy!!!

Rowen & Wren Housewares

June 27, 2017

By Tab Byrum

So many good things that happen are merely by chance and that’s what happened recently when I stumbled onto the website for Rowen & Wren Housewares, to be honest, I can’t completely remember what led me to them but it was enough that I made note of their website on a running list I keep going on my desk of websites to revisit. You immediately know when you enter the world of Rowen & Wren that you are someplace fun, elegant, and different, one of the words they use in their self-description is eclectic and I couldn’t agree more. They have everything to choose from, whether you’re looking for a baby gift or champagne glasses that are the traditional saucer shape they have it at Rowen & Wren. I know I’ll be returning to see what else they have to choose from, especially when it gets closer to the holidays, in the meantime join me today for a quick look, an overview if you will, of all the beautiful offerings from Rowen & Wren of Bagshot, England. Enjoy!!!

Make It A Sidecar From Moore & Giles

July 1, 2016

By Tab Byrum

Made by hand in Virginia was all it took to get my attention in this time of all things “Made In China,” sometimes I feel like we’ve seen and read so many posts on bar carts that it might make me want to stop drinking (not really), but when I saw the Moore & Giles Side Car Bar Cart I knew I had to check this beauty out. The Side Car is composed of materials like walnut, leather, aluminum, and brass, with all these materials combined to create something out of an old movie that Cary Grant and William Powell would covet greatly. The Side Car has storage galore with a specific area to store needed supplies as well as a kind of inverted hanging glass rack to keep all your glassware safe and in line. The creation of the Side Car was a collaboration between Moore & Giles and cocktail connoisseur Jim Meehan. The Side Car is one of those times when form and function have come together to create a thing of beauty. I can’t wait to check out other merch from Moore & Giles, for now, I’m off to make a martini, Enjoy!!!

Spring and Summer are always great times to try new recipes that involve fruit, so much fresh produce is available at the grocery store and soon it will be time for the Farmer’s Markets to open up. One thing that’s fun to experiment with is cocktails using the fresh ingredients that are available, so I thought this month we would also look at different recipes for cocktails using strawberries. I tried to find recipes that weren’t a big mess to make or that required lots of equipment, I love a good strawberry margarita but I don’t always want to get out the blender or margarita machine. Here’s a peek at some recipes to try and remember this weekend is Mother’s Day so if you’re hosting lunch or brunch that’s the perfect time to serve some new, light and refreshing beverages. Remember to click on anything in orange to go to websites for recipes and instructions, Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Holiday Cocktail Attire

December 17, 2015

By Tab Byrum

cocktailattire_13

Tonight we are attending our first holiday party for the 2015 Christmas season, it’s a cocktail party for Michael’s work and it’s at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. I love cocktail parties, I’ve helped give a few and they’re always fairly casual but with this one being at the Country Club you know it’ll be a dressier occasion. The holiday season is always a great time to play it up in the clothing department, you know things like bringing in color, where you would usually just opt for black and white, and while black is playing a prominent role in our clothing choices I did turn up the volume with color. I thought today we would take a look at some of the choices in clothing and styles when it come to “party clothes”, let me know what you’re wearing to parties this Christmas, is it all black head to toe or are you living dangerously and bringing in color, my motto is that it’s always better to be a little overdressed than underdressed, Enjoy!!!
