Commercial Decor: Meat Market Refectory In Oklahoma City

December 6, 2017

By Tab Byrum

This year I had the privilege of helping a client decorate their restaurant here in Oklahoma City for the holiday season. The restaurant is called the Meat Market Refectory or MMR Prime Steakhouse and is owned by my clients Cindy and Lance Ruffel. The building that now houses MMR used to be a Chinese Buffet but today it has been transformed into a beautiful dining spot that could easily be located in New York City or Los Angeles. The decor of MMR is done in dark wood tones with lots of gray and silver brought in to add sparkle and elegance. There are sections of wall that house mirrors that reflect the light and additional light to the restaurant. The bar is in the center of the restaurant and over it hangs a gorgeous cobalt blue chandelier and we took our color cues from that chandelier for the Christmas decorations, bringing in mercury glass and cobalt blue ornaments I tied the Christmas decorations back to the decor of MMR. I’ll go into more detail with the photos, I hope you enjoy the tour and if you’re in the need of a beautiful dining experience check out MMR Prime Steakhouse at 63rd and May in OKC. Enjoy!!!

Eating Out In San Miguel de Allende

September 20, 2017

By Tab Byrum

Let’s face it, one of the things we all look forward to when on vacation is what and where we are going to eat. We were not disappointed in the choices we had of places to dine in San Miguel, while we chose pretty much authentic Mexican for all of our meal choices we did branch out, especially at lunch, sometimes you get tired of chips and salsa and are wanting a good salad or maybe some pasta. Today I’m going to share with you a list and look at most of the restaurants we visited on our recent trip to San Miguel and I’ll try to remember what we ate where. I shared a lot of these on my Facebook page, here. For now, pull up a chair and Enjoy!!!

NYC Dining: The Monkey Bar, Buddakan & Vaucluse

April 26, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I LOVE to eat, I love good food and I think that’s because I was raised by people who love to cook and take great pride in what they create and that was passed on to me in my love for good food and cooking. Part of the fun of a vacation for me is where we are going to eat and on this recent trip I took to New York City we ate at three restaurants that are new to us. I’m going to share some images of each restaurant and tell you a little bit about our dining experience at each place. As much as I love good food I also love a great interior in a restaurant, it doesn’t have to be over the top with everything gilded, but just have a definite direction or theme and do it well, the three restaurants I’m going to talk about today all have a distinct look to go with their menus and the looks are all done beautifully. So, join me as we tour The Monkey Bar, Buddakan and Vaucluse, Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Hello!!!!! I hope everyone is off to a great start this week, I’m sorry I didn’t get any posts up yesterday, I was playing catch-up after getting home from my weekend in New York City. I want to do a couple of posts and share with you some of the things we did and places we visited while we were in NYC. One place we always visit while in NYC is Balthazar Restaurant, Balthazar is a French Brasserie that was opened in 1997 by restauranteur Keith McNally, it’s one of the closest places I’ve ever dined that is truly like being in Paris. The last time I went to LA it was on a trip with friends and we stayed at the Hotel Bel Air, while we were there we had dinner one night and breakfast every morning at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant located in the hotel’s courtyard. I wanted Michael to see this beautiful place and experience the wonderful food and atmosphere so I made reservations for us at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel Air for 6 o’clock. (above image via)
