Last weekend Michael and I were invited to the soft opening, kind of a sneak preview, of Birra Birra Craft Pizzeria here in Oklahoma City. Jeff Dixon is one of the owners of Birra Birra and had sent us an invite, full disclosure I’ve known Jeff since he was about a year old when my mom went to work for his dad in his dad’s new medical practice in Weatherford back in the early ’80s. Birra Birra is GORGEOUS, it has a sleek feel to it with lots of metal, glass and gorgeous light colored wood used everywhere, it feels very California or dare I even say it, very LA. We had signed up for an 11 am reservation on Saturday, we were immediately seated and given menus, I ordered a cider and Michael tried one of their on tap beers and we ordered their Zucchini Fries as an appetizer while we perused the menu. The bar boasts the longest Ice Rail in the U.S., a great way to keep your beverage chilled while you are sitting and enjoying your food at the bar. Birra Birra is part of the Provision Concepts family of restaurants which also includes Hatch, Broadway 10, and Sidecar Barley & Winebar. Enough chatter, I’m going to share the photos I took on my iPhone and I’ll give you more details with the pics. For any of you locals, Birra Birra is located in the Chisholm Creek area of north OKC, just off the turnpike between Penn and Western. They have a gorgeous patio area that overlooks the lake and fountains. Enjoy!!!

Commercial Decor: Meat Market Refectory In Oklahoma City
December 6, 2017

This year I had the privilege of helping a client decorate their restaurant here in Oklahoma City for the holiday season. The restaurant is called the Meat Market Refectory or MMR Prime Steakhouse and is owned by my clients Cindy and Lance Ruffel. The building that now houses MMR used to be a Chinese Buffet but today it has been transformed into a beautiful dining spot that could easily be located in New York City or Los Angeles. The decor of MMR is done in dark wood tones with lots of gray and silver brought in to add sparkle and elegance. There are sections of wall that house mirrors that reflect the light and additional light to the restaurant. The bar is in the center of the restaurant and over it hangs a gorgeous cobalt blue chandelier and we took our color cues from that chandelier for the Christmas decorations, bringing in mercury glass and cobalt blue ornaments I tied the Christmas decorations back to the decor of MMR. I’ll go into more detail with the photos, I hope you enjoy the tour and if you’re in the need of a beautiful dining experience check out MMR Prime Steakhouse at 63rd and May in OKC. Enjoy!!!

Hello!!!!! I hope everyone is off to a great start this week, I’m sorry I didn’t get any posts up yesterday, I was playing catch-up after getting home from my weekend in New York City. I want to do a couple of posts and share with you some of the things we did and places we visited while we were in NYC. One place we always visit while in NYC is Balthazar Restaurant, Balthazar is a French Brasserie that was opened in 1997 by restauranteur Keith McNally, it’s one of the closest places I’ve ever dined that is truly like being in Paris. The last time I went to LA it was on a trip with friends and we stayed at the Hotel Bel Air, while we were there we had dinner one night and breakfast every morning at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant located in the hotel’s courtyard. I wanted Michael to see this beautiful place and experience the wonderful food and atmosphere so I made reservations for us at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel Air for 6 o’clock. (above image via)
