Royal Wedding Wrap Up

May 21, 2018

By Tab Byrum

OK, surely you didn’t think we could skip out on looking at all the amazing design that went into making Saturday’s Royal Wedding happen…did you? Today we are going to look at all the things we talked about leading to the Royal Wedding, from the flowers and the cake to the dress and jewelry. I personally thought it was a beautiful wedding, it was much smaller and more intimate than William and Kate’s wedding 7 years ago but that was because this wasn’t an official state occasion, thus the absence of Presidents and Kings and Queens from other countries. I’ll talk a little more about all the ingredients that made this wedding a feast for the eyes. Enjoy!!! (above via)

Royal Wedding Florist ~ Phillipa Craddock

April 10, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Last week it was announced that Phillipa Craddock will be doing the flowers for the upcoming nuptials between Britain’s Prince Harry and American, Meghan Merkle. Craddock is a well known high-end florist in London, with shops in Selfridge’s Department Store and a stand-alone shop. Craddock is a favorite among the fashion industry crowd in London and says she is thrilled to be working with the couple on their big day. Recently Craddock told House & Garden Magazine, “Working with [the couple] has been an absolute pleasure. The process has been highly collaborative, free-flowing, creative, and fun. The final designs will represent them as a couple, which I always aim to achieve in my work, with local sourcing, seasonality, and sustainability being at the forefront.” Meghan Merkle’s favorite flowers are Peonies, they will be mixed with White Garden Roses, Foxgloves, and Seasonal Beech. All the flowers will be coming from the Crown Estate, Windsor Great Park and Royal Parks, following the wedding the flowers will be donated to charitable organizations. Today I’m sharing photos from Ms. Craddock’s website of some of the amazing arrangements and events she and her staff have worked on, I can’t wait to see what she creates on May 19th at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Here’s a sigh to those who love me,

Tabulous Christmas Flashback

December 8, 2017

By Tab Byrum

It’s Friday and kind of crazy at our house today so I’m sharing today a house I first decorated last year and is still one of my faves. I called this one Natural and Elegant because there are so many natural elements to the holiday decorations, lots of pinecones, greenery and the Christmas tree is covered in nature. The elegance comes from the white and silver color scheme used throughout the house with pops of red and plaid. Those of you new to reading Tabulous Design, I hope you enjoy this look at a gorgeous home and for my friends who are here every day I hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane. Click here to see the full post on Natural and Elegant, Enjoy!!!

This arrangement of greenery and pinecones was one of my favorite things from this home last year. Click here to see the original post and more photos.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday with looks and ideas for the Holiday Season. Enjoy!!!

Red, White & Retro Christmas Door

December 5, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I’ve shared the door to this home with you before on the blog but these are new decorations, I’m lucky that I get to change out this door three or four times a year and always with a new theme. I’ve been sticking with red and white in some fashion on this entry because right after Christmas is over I come and take the overtly Christmas items out of it and put in hearts and cupids and we leave that up until after Valentine’s Day, then I change it out to Spring. This time I used Red and White Mesh Ribbon as the base of my decoration, to that I added red berry garlands to the center and large red berry picks to the ends of the decoration. My favorite part of this year’s decoration is the large red and white striped poinsettias, to me, they are totally retro and remind of so many holiday decorations from the 1950’s and 60’s. On top, I added some fun white garlands that a big touch of whimsy and I worked in white lights that add great sparkle. I’ll go into more detail below in the photos, I hope you like this as much as I do. Enjoy!!!

Thanksgiving Tablescapes 2017

November 6, 2017

By Tab Byrum

It’s November 6th and two weeks from this Thursday is Thanksgiving so I thought today we would look at some ideas for decorating your family’s table for this bountiful holiday. You don’t have to do anything too elaborate and with lots of people sitting around a table with plates and glasses it’s probably better to keep it simple. A tablecloth is always a great way to begin but if you have a beautiful table maybe just put a fabric runner down the center, I think it’s nice to have something down the center of the table that kind of gives you a “boundary” of where to keep the decorations. Right now burlap is really a hot look and lots of the craft and decorating stores have pre-cut burlap runners available. I also like to find an inexpensive fabric in a color that works with my decorating scheme and get enough of it that you can bunch it up on the table and “nestle” pumpkins and candles in the folds. A good way to know how much fabric to get is to measure the length of your table and buy one and a half or up to two times as much fabric as your table is long, if your table is six feet long (72 inches) then get 144 inches or 4 yards of fabric. I have some images to share with you today of ideas that won’t break the bank but still give you a lot of bang for your buck. Enjoy!!! (image via)

Lovely Lilies

April 14, 2017

By Tab Byrum

This time of year one of the easiest flowers to find to buy and work with in home arrangements are Lilies. I personally love lilies, I love all the colors they come in, the beautiful colors from white to pink and some in-between and I enjoy the scent of Lilies. I know some people don’t enjoy the scent of Lilies and I have a couple of clients that really sneeze when Lilies are around. Lilies have a lot going for them, in addition to their color and scent, they also are a great flower to add height to any arrangement and drama and Lilies are one of those flowers that you can create smaller and more simple arrangements by using a couple of Lilies in a small vase, or mix them with other flowers in a shorter vase, like Hydrangeas, and you have a great centerpiece. Today, as we head into Easter weekend, we are going to take a look at Lilies in their natural environment as well as floral arrangements using Lilies. Have a wonderful weekend and Enjoy!!! Spring Flowers ~ Delphiniums

April 13, 2017

By Tab Byrum

Today we are looking at Delphiniums or you may know them better as Larkspur, another tall flower to add height and drama to your arrangements. Yesterday we talked about Bells of Ireland, but unlike Bells that only come in green, Delphiniums come in a variety of bright, beautiful colors. To learn and see more on Delphiniums click here to see a post I did in July 2014. Enjoy!!!

Spring Flowers ~ Bells Of Ireland

April 12, 2017

By Tab Byrum

Dramatic, green, and tall are a few of the words we might use to describe Bells Of Ireland, a wonderful flower that will add those three things and so much more to any flower arrangement. Bells are one of my favorites, they work well with lots of other flowers, including Hydrangeas, Lilies, and Tulips. Join me for a look at arrangements using Bells of Ireland, click here to see a more in-depth post I did on Bells last Summer. Enjoy!!!
