Living With Lucite Legs & Furniuture

June 20, 2018

By Tab Byrum

A couple of weeks ago I did a post here on the blog about Lucite Shelves and I received a lot of comments and reactions to them, all positive, so I thought today we would look at the trend of Lucite or Acrylic Furniture and Acrylic Legs on furniture. A client friend of mine has recently moved into a new home this past Spring and she went from a very traditional home to a more contemporary home and she has brought in a lot of lucite in decorating the home. I have to say I really like the look because it enables you to use a more traditional shaped piece of furniture like a bench but then use a current fabric and add Lucite/Acrylic legs and it has a totally 21st-century look. I also enjoy furniture that’s completely made of Lucite/Acrylic, especially tables and decorative chairs. Today I’m going to share some images with you of furniture made of clear Lucite/Acrylic and upholstered furniture that uses Lucite/Acrylic legs, just one piece in a room can amp up the design and drama. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Royal Wedding~Wedding Reception #2, Frogmore House

May 17, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Today we are looking at Frogmore House which will be the sight of a laid-back wedding reception for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The party is being given by Prince Charles for his son and new daughter-in-law and is being kept pretty small with around 200 to 250 people being invited. The party is mainly for the wedding party and close friends and relatives of the newlyweds, rumor is a disco will be set up and there will be ice cream food trucks on hand as well as smoked bacon and sausage sandwiches as requested by Prince Harry. The venue of Frogmore House is special because this is a house on the estate of Windsor Castle that is no longer lived in by any of the royal family, Frogmore is also home to Queen Victoria’s mausoleum and the royal burial ground for members of the family. Frogmore has been owned by the royals since the 16th century and was used by Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, as a country house. Several of Queen Victoria’s children lived in the house at Frogmore as well as her mother the Duchess of Kent. During the 1980’s the house underwent a major renovation and today the house is used by the royals for special events such as dinners and parties like this weekend’s wedding party. One more thing of interest about Frogmore, when the Royal Yacht Britannia was decommissioned in 1997 several pieces of furniture from the yacht was moved to Frogmore and are still there today. Here are some images of Frogmore, a royal venue this weekend. Enjoy!!! (above via)

Fyrn Furniture

May 2, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I have to admit, I’m kind of obsessed with the beautiful furniture over at Fyrn Furniture. I’m also going to admit that I found about Fyrn through a Facebook Ad about the company, one of the times social media ads worked the right way and directed me to a wonderful company making handmade furniture. The folks at Fyrn have created a system of self-assembled furniture that will hopefully make ordering and assembling furniture fun, simple and less expensive. Their system that allows you order the furniture in the look and finish you want and using the toolkit they provide and how to assembly videos for each piece of furniture you can assemble the piece yourself. This allows them to ship you the furniture in a more compact and less expensive way by using their Stemn brackets, the brackets not only add power and stability to the furniture but also a hint of metal and shine. Take a look at each of the six pieces of furniture photos I’m featuring today as well as images of their barstools that have been purchased for use in restaurants and to see and read more about Fyrn you can visit their website here. Enjoy!!! (above Shakewell, Oakland CA)

The Homes Of Givenchy

March 16, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Earlier this week we looked at and talked about the life and legacy of Hubert de Givenchy, the French fashion designer who died this past Saturday. While doing research on Givenchy I was happy to find photos and information on his homes. At one time Givenchy owned three homes in his native France but from what I can find he had sold two of the homes and retained his beloved chateau outside of Paris where he lived the last years and days of his life. Today we are looking at his Paris home and his Chateau, they are both decorated to the hilt in the classic French style, filled with beautiful antiques, fabrics, books, and light. Join me for a tour of these two homes and hopefully find some inspiration in the decoration and tastes of a design master. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Tabulous Home Tour: Jennifer Aniston

February 23, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I was sad to hear that Jennifer Aniston and husband Justin Theroux are separating, it’s not like I have a personal stake in their relationship but I do want everyone to be happy. ( I know, it’s a character flaw of mine) At the same time, the news came out about their relationship Architectural Digest featured their home and today I’m sharing those images with you. The house was designed and built in 1965 by architect A. Quincy Jones, Aniston bought the Bel Air home after selling another Los Angeles home and moving to New York City but paparazzi made that move impossible to complete. Aniston says when she walked into this home there were things that were “way too cool and sleek” but she loved the bones of the house and knew she could make it her own. Designer Stephen Shadley helped Aniston with the house, he says Jennifer is drawn to materials made of wood, stone, and bronze.” He goes on to say that “things have to be warm and inviting.” I love this home and what Aniston and Shadley have accomplished in it, I often dream of living in a modern home but am never quite sure I can go all the way modern, but in this home a lot of classic elements are brought in and used to make this sleek, contemporary mansion feel warm and inviting. I hope Aniston finds happiness in this home and I hope you like the photographic tour. Enjoy!!!
