Pinnochio And Bartolucci In Florence.

April 6, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Once upon a time, we were walking the streets of Florence, Italy when we came upon a charming store, a store focused on the art of wood carving and the timeless Italian story of Pinocchio. The store is Bartolucci and is run by the Bartolucci family who has been in woodworking since 1936. The Bartolucci store in Florence is gorgeous and will be enjoyed by adult and children alike, the store is filled with beautiful creations in wood that are painted in bright colors and have the most wonderful faces. The focus of the store is Pinocchio, the puppet made of wood who wants to be a real boy. Francesco Bartolucci made his first Pinocchio in 1981 when he took a carpenter’s bench outside so tourists could watch him work, it is from that day on that Francesco says he had found his true path. Along with Pinocchio, you will find clocks, growth charts, toys, and even Christmas decorations. I have some photos to share with you today and if you would like to visit the Bartolucci website you can click here and as always Enjoy!!!

Christmas Candy From Vermont Country Store

December 13, 2017

By Tab Byrum

Candy plays a HUGE role in my family at Christmas, my mom has always been the candy maker and I shared her easy to make and delicious to eat recipe for Chocolate Peanut Clusters here a couple of years ago. When I was growing up I worked in the grocery store in my hometown from the time I was 14 until I graduated from college and at Christmas, we all looked forward to the candy. Christmas candy of all shapes, sizes, and flavors was ordered in bulk and it was our job to unpack it, weight it, price it and display. Hours were spent filling clear bags full of chocolate drops, gumdrops, candy canes, orange slices and so much more. We set up a big table at the front of the store and filled it with bags of candy, I can smell the chocolate and orange slices now sitting here while I’m typing. Today I want to share the candy choices you can order online and have shipped to you at Vermont Country Store, they have a lot of the old favorites as well as some I’ve never heard of but would love to try. All of these would make great gifts for hard to buy for family and friends, great stocking stuffers or just look and taste great sitting out in dishes in your home during the holidays. It’s still 12 days until Christmas but order soon. Enjoy!!! (remember to click on anything in Orange to visit that items webpage)

Halloween Candy Bowls

October 23, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I’m on a spray paint kick here on Tabulous Design and I’ve come up with a couple of things I want to share with you that you can either do for your home or they would also make quick and easy gifts. I started this one with the small bowl vases I found at Dollar Tree for one dollar each, I chose the ones with the ruffled edge around the top. I thought that if these were painted black they would look like Halloween witch’s cauldrons, then fill them with a brightly colored treat like Candy Corn and you have instant Halloween candy dish. I’m using the glitter spray paint from Krylon because I thought it would be fun to have a little sparkle, this was my first time to use the product and I like it. I need some more practice because it clumped in a few spots but I actually like how it turned out, the clumps gave it a creepy and aged feel to it. I painted the second one of these ruffled jars glitter orange just to see how it would work. I’ve filled the black one with traditional Candy Corn and the orange one is filled with brown Candy Corn that is Chocolate Sea Salt. You could easily wrap these filled jars in cello wrap, tie them up with a fun Halloween ribbon and give them as neighbor or Teacher gifts. Let me know what you think and check back tomorrow when I’ll share some fun Halloween vases I made to decorate tables, Enjoy!!!
