Halloween Candy Bowls

October 23, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I’m on a spray paint kick here on Tabulous Design and I’ve come up with a couple of things I want to share with you that you can either do for your home or they would also make quick and easy gifts. I started this one with the small bowl vases I found at Dollar Tree for one dollar each, I chose the ones with the ruffled edge around the top. I thought that if these were painted black they would look like Halloween witch’s cauldrons, then fill them with a brightly colored treat like Candy Corn and you have instant Halloween candy dish. I’m using the glitter spray paint from Krylon because I thought it would be fun to have a little sparkle, this was my first time to use the product and I like it. I need some more practice because it clumped in a few spots but I actually like how it turned out, the clumps gave it a creepy and aged feel to it. I painted the second one of these ruffled jars glitter orange just to see how it would work. I’ve filled the black one with traditional Candy Corn and the orange one is filled with brown Candy Corn that is Chocolate Sea Salt. You could easily wrap these filled jars in cello wrap, tie them up with a fun Halloween ribbon and give them as neighbor or Teacher gifts. Let me know what you think and check back tomorrow when I’ll share some fun Halloween vases I made to decorate tables, Enjoy!!!

Fall Preview 2017 ~ Williams Sonoma

August 25, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I have a big soft spot for anything vintage that has the look of the 1920’s through the 1950’s and Williams Sonoma has a Halloween collection this year called the Grim Tabletop & Decor that I’m really wild about. It calls to mind the antique postcards and posters from those days gone by. The colors of the collection have a definite antique feel to them with lots of orange, black, gold, green and shades of blue. Fun and whimsical Jack-O-Lanterns take center stage in this collection as they take human form and ham it up for lots of Halloween fun. There are plates, platters, glasses, placemats and even an adorable welcome mat. Join me today for a look at the Grim Collection from Williams Sonoma and Enjoy!!!

Charley Harper Collection From West Elm

July 25, 2017

By Tab Byrum

Yesterday we explored the artwork of American artist Charley Harper, I was doing that for two reasons. First, because I enjoy his artwork and second because West Elm just announced a new collection of items in their stores and available online that they’ve created in conjunction with the Charley Harper estate. There are several wonderful pieces available from West Elm, a wonderful chair done in a print we featured yesterday and some wall art. I particularly like the pieces for the kitchen, the white ceramic trays decorated in Charley Harper prints run from $8 to $19. I’ve gathered up some photos today for you to see of some of the items, check them out at West Elm’s website here when you have a chance, for now, Enjoy!!! (above, Tapestry Wall Art)

Rowen & Wren Housewares

June 27, 2017

By Tab Byrum

So many good things that happen are merely by chance and that’s what happened recently when I stumbled onto the website for Rowen & Wren Housewares, to be honest, I can’t completely remember what led me to them but it was enough that I made note of their website on a running list I keep going on my desk of websites to revisit. You immediately know when you enter the world of Rowen & Wren that you are someplace fun, elegant, and different, one of the words they use in their self-description is eclectic and I couldn’t agree more. They have everything to choose from, whether you’re looking for a baby gift or champagne glasses that are the traditional saucer shape they have it at Rowen & Wren. I know I’ll be returning to see what else they have to choose from, especially when it gets closer to the holidays, in the meantime join me today for a quick look, an overview if you will, of all the beautiful offerings from Rowen & Wren of Bagshot, England. Enjoy!!!

Tabulous Father’s Day Gift Guide ~ Unsimply Stitched

June 12, 2017

By Tab Byrum

This coming Sunday is Father’s Day, a day we set aside to honor the man who helped bring us into the world or the men who took us in and raised us as well as the men who have been important to us and our families. As with all these holidays, we give gifts and that is not always an easy gesture to accomplish. This week I’m going to share with you some of the items I’ve found that I like and enjoy and that I think would be great gifts for Dad. We are going to start with socks, and before you roll your eyes about socks you have to check out the great designs and styles from Unsimply Stitched. I know these socks won’t be for everyone, but for those Dads who enjoy a little Sartorial panache, they are great. I ordered several pairs of their No Show socks that I like to wear with pants and jeans when you’re wanting to show skin instead of fabric and I also wear them with low top sneakers, like Converse, in the Summer. Here’s a peek at some of the fun and colorful offerings from Unsimply Stitched, Enjoy!!!

Mother’s Day: Kimono Jackets from Anthropologie

May 9, 2017

By Tab Byrum

The other day I was searching the internet looking for fun and unusual gifts I could feature for Mother’s Day, I always like checking in on what Anthropologie has as far as gifts and housewares and I was glad to see they had a section devoted to Mother’s Day. While I was looking at their Mother’s Day selections I began noticing several different bright, beautiful, and elegant Kimono jackets and that’s the direction I decided to go for today’s post. A Kimono is defined as a long, loose robe with wide sleeves and usually tied with a wide belt, originally in Japan it was meant to be a formal garment but today is worn around the world as a robe and in today’s examples as a jacket. I just think the colors and patterns of these Kimonos are beautiful, they can be paired with jeans or a dress or in some cases even a gown, these Kimonos can definitely take a simple outfit and send them over the top for a night out on the town. Check out these and other Kimonos on Anthropologie’s website and maybe give mom some pattern and color this year. Enjoy!!! (Leopard Cocoon Kimono)
