Once upon a time, we were walking the streets of Florence, Italy when we came upon a charming store, a store focused on the art of wood carving and the timeless Italian story of Pinocchio. The store is Bartolucci and is run by the Bartolucci family who has been in woodworking since 1936. The Bartolucci store in Florence is gorgeous and will be enjoyed by adult and children alike, the store is filled with beautiful creations in wood that are painted in bright colors and have the most wonderful faces. The focus of the store is Pinocchio, the puppet made of wood who wants to be a real boy. Francesco Bartolucci made his first Pinocchio in 1981 when he took a carpenter’s bench outside so tourists could watch him work, it is from that day on that Francesco says he had found his true path. Along with Pinocchio, you will find clocks, growth charts, toys, and even Christmas decorations. I have some photos to share with you today and if you would like to visit the Bartolucci website you can click here and as always Enjoy!!!

At Home With Designer Vern Yip
April 3, 2018

I’ve always enjoyed watching design shows on TV hosted by designer Vern Yip so I was excited the other day when I stumbled onto a Traditional Home online article about Yip’s home he shares with his partner Craig and their two children. Yip was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Virginia where he graduated from high school in 1986 and attended the University of Virginia and earned degrees in economics and chemistry. Yip was all prepared to attend medical school when he changed his mind and decided to study architecture instead, graduating from Georgia Tech with a Masters in Architecture. Today Yip is known for his classic designs imbued with color and personality and hosting shows on HGTV and TLC’s Trading Spaces. Vern Yip is now based in Atlanta and lives in a 1925 home. I love the design of this family’s home, there are so many traditional elements such as paneling, wide baseboards, large arched windows, and wood floors all done with lots of colors. Of course, you could also totally carry off this decorating scheme using neutrals for a very sophisticated look and feel. Join me for a tour of Vern Yip and Craig Koch’s Atlanta home and be inspired. Enjoy!!!
Ricky Martin’s Family Home
January 26, 2018

In the latest issue of Architectural Digest, we are taken for a tour of the Beverly Hills home of boy band favorite Ricky Martin. Martin found fame in Menudo, a Puerto Rican boy band that was loved by girls (and boys) of all ages. Today Martin and his husband, Jwan Yosef, find themselves coming off two years of hard work which included a world tour and a year-long residency in Las Vegas, all the while caring for and raising their twin sons Matteo and Valentino. For now, Martin and Yosef have decided to settle down in Beverly Hills in a beautiful modern home. The house is filled with gorgeous furniture, all of it perfect for the house. Yosef is an artist and several of his pieces hang in the home as well as several pieces of an ever-growing collection the two men are putting together. Nate Berkus was called in to help the two busy artists put their new home together, Martin and Yosef say they didn’t want a completely decorated home, just the basics done so they could fill in the rest with things they find along the way. I have to say the home is gorgeous and has to be very inspiring to the two men to keep creating. Yosef has already turned a former yoga room into a studio and there are plans for Martin to build a recording studio. Enough talk, join me for a tour and as always, Enjoy!!!

James River Gray From Benjamin Moore
June 26, 2017
By
Last week we were focusing on different shades of blue and on one of the days I shared the above picture of this kitchen and the beautiful cabinets I thought were a light blue color, during my research for the post I found out the cabinets are painted a color called James River Gray from Benjamin Moore. I decided to do some more research on this color and see how else it’s being used and how it looks on other surfaces. The color is part of the America’s Colors collection from Benjamin Moore, this is a collection of 42 soft neutral colors that are geographically inspired and reflect some of the most well-traveled areas of the United States. James River Gray definitely goes back and forth for me between gray and blue, it’s a beautiful soft color that will work well with other colors or can definitely stand alone as the predominant color in a room of an otherwise neutral palette. Let’s take a look together at James River Gray and let me know what you think, how would you use this color and where do you think it looks best? Enjoy!!! (above image via)
Pillowfort Bedding From Target
April 4, 2017

We were in Target the other day looking to see if they had a bath mat to go with some new towels we had recently purchased when I ran across their Pillowfort collection. The thing that caught my eye was the fun striped towels I saw but we’ll talk about their bathroom collection later this week. I know this collection is geared towards children and decorating their bedrooms and bathrooms but there are definitely some things in the Pillowfort collection I would use as an adult. Enough talk, let’s check out Pillowfort from Target, let me know what you think and Enjoy!!!
Crushing On Orange
August 1, 2016

Orange is one of my favorite colors and I often feel like it gets a bum rap. Most people automatically associate the color orange with Autumn, pumpkins, and Halloween and in Oklahoma you can pretty much forget about half the population of the state having anything to do with the color orange. Orange and black are the school colors for Oklahoma State University, crimson and cream are the colors for the University of Oklahoma, so it’s almost impossible to get any OU alums to even consider bringing orange into their homes (seriously?????).
Art From Hayley Sarno
July 29, 2016

Hayley Sarno got her start in the world of fashion designing accessories and jewelry for high-end brands, she continues to work in fashion today but as a consultant and an illustrator specializing in logo design, branding and illustrations. I have an affinity for fun and dare I say it, whimsical art and her’s fills the bill. Today we’re looking at four fun illustrations she’s done featuring animals in famous places and I would definitely use them in a home, they are shown hanging in a child’s room and nursery but I think they would be great in any room wherever you want to add a little fun. Check out all her fun work on her website, Enjoy!!!
Kid’s Room Refresh With At Home
July 11, 2016
By
My At Home design challenge for the month of July was to refresh a child’s bedroom and I knew the perfect candidate, my friend Sophia is having her 10th birthday today so her mom and I conspired to give her room a new look as part of her birthday present. Sophia and her sister had gone to the lake with friends for a few days last week so her mom and I decided to refresh her room while they were gone, so we headed to At Home to gather what we needed. One thing you need to know is that Sophia LOVES pigs so we decided to use that as our theme and as luck and good taste would have it At Home had the PERFECT piece of art to use as a centerpiece for the room, a brightly colored contemporary painting of an adorable pig. I played off the colors of the pig painting and incorporated brightly colored pillows, a bedside table, curtains and a new lamp. I guess I should stop talking about the refresh and just show it to you. Happy Birthday Sophia, THANKS At Home and as always Enjoy!!!
