October 2, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I seem to have a thing for crows, spiders, and pumpkins, at least that’s what I was drawn to for Halloween from MacKenzie-Childs. As always, they’ve combined classical shapes with their signature colors and created fun and frightening items to add fun and sass to your home this Halloween. Some of the items can even be carried over for Fall and Thanksgiving if you do it right. Here’s a quick peek at some of the NEW items at MC for Halloween 2017. Enjoy!!!

Autumn 2017

September 25, 2017

By Tab Byrum

We’ve made it to another Fall when our thoughts of color turn to warmer colors like Oranges, Browns, and Burgundy and brightness of Yellow. Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons since I love the cooler weather associated with both of them, the holidays and colors. This fall I’m hoping to get an Etsy page up and going that I’ll share here on the blog when I have new items going up on it for sale, I’m going to mainly focus on holidays and creating wonderful things for you to enjoy in your homes and that you can also give as gifts. I’ll be sharing with you decorating projects I have going on, both Holiday decorating and Interior decorating. I just took fabrics to my friend who sews for me and she’s making new bedding and drapes for my bedroom and I’ll share that with you as soon as it’s done. For now let’s take a look at some beautiful images of Autumn decor that hopefully inspires us to enjoy the cool, crisp days of Fall and all that they offer. Have a great day and Enjoy!!! Fall Preview 2017 ~ Pottery Barn Kids

August 21, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I know it’s hard to believe but two weeks from today is Labor Day, the unofficial end of Summer. So, with that in mind, I thought we would start looking ahead to Fall and see what some of our favorite stores and online retailers have available. I initially set out to see what everyone had available for Fall but found most of them have gone right on to Halloween and today we are going to start with one of my favorite collections I found, the Charlie Brown and Peanuts Halloween table top from Pottery Barn Kids. I always like to check out PB Kids because they have fun stuff, usually with a fun theme in mind. They always use bright colors and fun whimsical characters and this collection doesn’t disappoint. Join me for a look at the Great Pumpkin and how Snoopy and the gang can bring lots of fun and cheer to your home this Fall and Halloween. Enjoy!!!

Getting The Blues: Chinoiserie Blue

June 22, 2017

By Tab Byrum

If I lived in a large home I would devote one room to Chinoiserie, which is defined as “the European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and East Asian artistic traditions, especially in the decorative arts, garden design, architecture, literature, theater, and music.” There’s something about the look at that appeals to me greatly. I think it’s the use of nature in their designs of pottery, china, wallpaper, and other decorative objects. Probably the best known Chinoiserie decorative product is Blue and White porcelain, I’ve discussed Blue Transferware before and Delft Pottery after our trip last year to Amsterdam and the Netherlands, but today I want to look at Chinoiserie Blue as part of our look at decorating with different shades of Blue. Chinoiserie Blue has a distinct feel to it, it’s very natural as far as the decorations used in Chinoiserie since of course nature is very important in Asia. Chinoiserie is also known for its use of scenes depicting life, whether it’s everyday life or life in a royal palace. Join me for a look at Chinoiserie Blue and how you can do a little or a lot to enhance your home and its decor. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Neutral Fall Decorating

October 10, 2016

I have a new client that I recently helped her with the decorating of her new home for Fall and her front porch. While we went pretty traditional as far as color on the front porch we went much more neutral for the interiors, think birch branches, white, tan, and gold pumpkins as well as white and gray pumpkins and gourds. There are a lot of choices out there for neutral colored pieces to use in decorating for the seasons and holidays, you can find real pumpkins and gourds now in white and greens as well as all kinds of decorations in neutral colors that also involve gold and silver and neutral colored elements like rope, yarn, and burlap that all work well with the more neutral color schemes of our homes. I thought today we would take a look at Fall decorating in a neutral color palette and all this week we’ll go a little more in-depth as far as materials. Have fun and Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Chilewich Tabletop Textiles

August 16, 2016

You never know where you’re going to find inspiration or something interesting, I had to go all the way to the Netherlands to stumble across Chilewich in a store in Amsterdam. Chilewich is an American manufacturer of placemats, table runners, napkins, rugs, and window shades made from wonderful textiles and designed by Sandy Chilewich. Sandy and her husband, Joe Sultan, are the team behind this successful company producing beautiful, modern looking products. I love the look and feel of the Chilewich placemats, they are what first caught my eye in a display in the Amsterdam store, they are sleek, chic and very attractive. Sandy has been producing her tabletop line since 2000 and it has changed the way tables are dressed in both homes and restaurants. Join me for a look at some of the placemats and runners from Chilewich and check out their website for more products and information. Enjoy!!!

Natalie Lete

August 3, 2016

I ran into the local Anthropologie one day last week to see what was new and what if anything good was on the sale tables.  Anytime I’m in Anthropologie I find myself drawn to the brightly colored plates and accessories, I decided then and there to do a little research and find out who the creative mind is behind these eye catchers.  I was happy to find out they are the creation of a  lovely French lady named Nathalie Lété.
