For my November decorating challenge from At Home I chose their Holiday Dining Table challenge and decided to do something for Fall and Thanksgiving. Everything I used in the challenge came from At Home and I’ll show you and tell what I did along the with photos from setting up the table. Enjoy!!!

Neutral Fall Decorating

October 10, 2016

I have a new client that I recently helped her with the decorating of her new home for Fall and her front porch. While we went pretty traditional as far as color on the front porch we went much more neutral for the interiors, think birch branches, white, tan, and gold pumpkins as well as white and gray pumpkins and gourds. There are a lot of choices out there for neutral colored pieces to use in decorating for the seasons and holidays, you can find real pumpkins and gourds now in white and greens as well as all kinds of decorations in neutral colors that also involve gold and silver and neutral colored elements like rope, yarn, and burlap that all work well with the more neutral color schemes of our homes. I thought today we would take a look at Fall decorating in a neutral color palette and all this week we’ll go a little more in-depth as far as materials. Have fun and Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Chilewich Tabletop Textiles

You never know where you’re going to find inspiration or something interesting, I had to go all the way to the Netherlands to stumble across Chilewich in a store in Amsterdam. Chilewich is an American manufacturer of placemats, table runners, napkins, rugs, and window shades made from wonderful textiles and designed by Sandy Chilewich. Sandy and her husband, Joe Sultan, are the team behind this successful company producing beautiful, modern looking products. I love the look and feel of the Chilewich placemats, they are what first caught my eye in a display in the Amsterdam store, they are sleek, chic and very attractive. Sandy has been producing her tabletop line since 2000 and it has changed the way tables are dressed in both homes and restaurants. Join me for a look at some of the placemats and runners from Chilewich and check out their website for more products and information. Enjoy!!!

Natalie Lete

I ran into the local Anthropologie one day last week to see what was new and what if anything good was on the sale tables.  Anytime I’m in Anthropologie I find myself drawn to the brightly colored plates and accessories, I decided then and there to do a little research and find out who the creative mind is behind these eye catchers.  I was happy to find out they are the creation of a  lovely French lady named Nathalie Lété.

American Heirloom Cake Stands

July 15, 2016

By Tab Byrum

Almost as important as the taste of a good cake is the presentation, and nothing can do that better than a beautiful cake stand. American Heirloom is a wife and husband run company that started out specializing in handmade cutting boards ( a whole different post) and has since evolved into among other things cake stands. Their cake stands are so elegantly simple and the fact that their bases are made of wood (maple and walnut) makes them that much more alluring. Right now the stands come in two different wood types and two different silhouettes, and two different sizes plus some of the stands can be personalized with names, initials, and or dates to make a wonderful gift for weddings or a special birthday for a baker. As you can also see from the above picture the stands can do double duty to help create a beautiful centerpiece for your table or would also be great cheese boards for pre-sliced cheese, or put the crackers on the cake stand and the cheese below it on another board. Join me today for a peek at Amy and Bill’s creations and to see more great products from American Heirloom check out their website. Enjoy!!!

Hot Summer days mean wanting to get cool and lots of time that means getting in the water and today we are using that for inspiration as we check out some of the newest additions to tabletop at Pottery Barn. Whether it’s being on the water and focusing on boats and everything nautical that goes with them or being in the water and focusing on all the creatures dwelling below the depths, Pottery Barn has some awesome plates and serving pieces. Setting The Table With Plat du Jour

June 7, 2016

By Tab Byrum

I grew up using placemats on the kitchen and dining table and it’s something I still do today in my own home. Placemats are great because they keep the table from getting scratched, catch spills or drips off the plate and I like how they “define” your space at the table. I have seen paper placemats around for quite a while but decided to do a post on them after seeing some of the latest designs from Plat du Jour. Plat du Jour says they have “fresh, modern, and iconic designs for the table,” with the designs ranging from elegant mats done in antique china patterns to ones decorated with simple black silhouettes. Plat du Jour placemats are perfect for however many people you’re feeding or entertaining and when you’re done just gather them up and toss them in the recycling bin, Plat du Jour also has selections in matching cups, trays, place cards, and napkins but we’ll save those for another day. Check out some of the awesome designs here and visit the Plat du Jour website to see all their offerings, Enjoy!!!

Bella’s Birthday Surprise

May 23, 2016

BellaBirthdaySurprise_1 - 15

I love being part of a surprise so I was more than happy to help my BFF Donna when it came time to surprise her oldest daughter, Bella, on her 14th birthday. Bella LOVES Harry Potter, Mike and I gave her the first book and movie several years ago for Christmas, teenagers are prone to be obsessed with something and for her and her friends it’s Harry. One nice thing about her HP love is that it’s led to a fascination with England and all things British, so her mom and dad decided to surprise her with a trip this Summer to London and Donna asked me to help with the big reveal. Last Friday the 20th was her birthday, and she had a party with her friends the weekend before, but she also had an end of school dance Friday evening so we decided to do a surprise reveal about the family’s upcoming Britsh adventure before the dance.

Vladimir Kanevsky Tabletop

April 28, 2016

I hope you’ve enjoyed our look this week at the ceramic sculptures from artist Vladimir Kanevsky, I think his floral work is just beautiful. Today we’re going to wrap up our focus on all things Kanevsky with a peek at his tableware. Kanevsky’s tableware has a very organic look to it, from the cabbage leaf plates to the pumpkin containers, his creations hearken back to antique majolica which I’ve talked about before and how much I like it. Several of the pieces are trompe l’oeil, which is when pieces are painted so specific parts look three dimensional, look for butterflies. Again, I hope you’ve enjoyed this little series and I’m already looking for other artists that we can look at a little more in-depth. Enjoy!!!
