Using Wicker All Year All The Time

June 11, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I recently read an article about how people are turning to wicker furniture to use both inside and outside their homes all year long and I have to say I really like the idea. For several years I had a wicker trunk I bought at Pier 1 I used as a coffee table then moved it to the bedroom where it was storage and a base for a TV. I’ve always loved the charm of an old beautiful piece of wicker furniture, whether it’s a single chair with lovely curves and a great bright cushion or maybe a wicker table with a glass top sitting next to a chair holding a lamp and a vase of flowers with space for your drink. Wicker pieces come in all sizes, colors, and styles and have traditionally been used on patios, porches and all kinds of outdoor areas but why not bring a favorite piece in the house? Maybe place a favorite piece in a corner of the living room with a beautiful new seat cushion that goes with your decor or maybe a piece in the corner of your bedroom. Wicker and rattan don’t have to be just for sitting, today you can also find wicker tables, desks, coffee tables and much more, both new and vintage. Today we are going to take a look at some photos of wicker used in homes as well as some pieces available from a wonderful vendor in France, Atelier Vime. So join me for a look at wicker and how you can incorporate it into your home, both outside and inside. Enjoy!!! (image via)

Awesome Lighting At Urban Chandy

June 6, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I was recently reading an article about a couple who had taken the upstairs portion of a barn and turned it into their home and in the picture of their dining area was an awesome chandelier over the dining table. Thankfully the article told who the maker of the light fixture was, a company called Urban Chandy. I have to be honest and tell you I was not familiar with the company but I am now and their products are everything you could want in fun, industrial, out of the ordinary lighting. I’ve told you before that I like to treat the lighting in a home like the jewelry, something special that adds some sparkle and pizazz to your outfit, or in this case the rooms of your home. My problem is that I like all kinds of lighting except for very traditional and Urban Chandy is NOT traditional. I love the use of retro kind of cords used in some of their pieces as well as the bare bulbs. They offer several different finishes and colors for their fixtures and their website also shows you how certain lights can be used in more than one area of the home. Join me today for a look at the beautiful pieces being created at Urban Chandy and Enjoy!!!

Fyrn Furniture

May 2, 2018

By Tab Byrum

I have to admit, I’m kind of obsessed with the beautiful furniture over at Fyrn Furniture. I’m also going to admit that I found about Fyrn through a Facebook Ad about the company, one of the times social media ads worked the right way and directed me to a wonderful company making handmade furniture. The folks at Fyrn have created a system of self-assembled furniture that will hopefully make ordering and assembling furniture fun, simple and less expensive. Their system that allows you order the furniture in the look and finish you want and using the toolkit they provide and how to assembly videos for each piece of furniture you can assemble the piece yourself. This allows them to ship you the furniture in a more compact and less expensive way by using their Stemn brackets, the brackets not only add power and stability to the furniture but also a hint of metal and shine. Take a look at each of the six pieces of furniture photos I’m featuring today as well as images of their barstools that have been purchased for use in restaurants and to see and read more about Fyrn you can visit their website here. Enjoy!!! (above Shakewell, Oakland CA)

Last week I told you about the Le Creuset Mickey Mouse tribute collection and while researching that I also saw their new Purple Provence Collection and the Flower Collection, both perfect for Spring. The Flower Collection is of course inspired by all things floral, with flower shaped cookware or flowers being the handles on top of the lids. If you are looking for a fun whimsical piece for your kitchen or as a gift for a special bride or birthday then check out these two newest looks from Le Creuset. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Pinnochio And Bartolucci In Florence.

April 6, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Once upon a time, we were walking the streets of Florence, Italy when we came upon a charming store, a store focused on the art of wood carving and the timeless Italian story of Pinocchio. The store is Bartolucci and is run by the Bartolucci family who has been in woodworking since 1936. The Bartolucci store in Florence is gorgeous and will be enjoyed by adult and children alike, the store is filled with beautiful creations in wood that are painted in bright colors and have the most wonderful faces. The focus of the store is Pinocchio, the puppet made of wood who wants to be a real boy. Francesco Bartolucci made his first Pinocchio in 1981 when he took a carpenter’s bench outside so tourists could watch him work, it is from that day on that Francesco says he had found his true path. Along with Pinocchio, you will find clocks, growth charts, toys, and even Christmas decorations. I have some photos to share with you today and if you would like to visit the Bartolucci website you can click here and as always Enjoy!!!

The Aerin Collection For Williams Sonoma

April 5, 2018

By Tab Byrum

The color combination of Blue and Green is one of my favorites and it seems to be a favorite of Aerin Lauders from looking at her new collection of dishes and entertaining pieces for Williams Sonoma. Lauder, of course, is the granddaughter of cosmetics legend Estée Lauder and this is the second collection she’s designed for WS. The collection her reflects her love for entertaining, especially outdoor entertaining since she says the blue and green in the collection represent the grass and sea. I’m really looking to get all white dishes then have key pieces like salad plates and serving pieces to mix in with the white and this collection would be perfect for that. One piece that especially stands out for me is the AERIN Glass Pitcher, I love the lines of the pitcher and the added piece of glass that snakes across the surface and that handle is gorgeous. Join me for a peek at the collection and let me know what you think. Enjoy!!!
