Purple & Flowers From Le Creuset

April 11, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Last week I told you about the Le Creuset Mickey Mouse tribute collection and while researching that I also saw their new Purple Provence Collection and the Flower Collection, both perfect for Spring. The Provence Collection is inspired by the lavender fields of Southern France and the calmness lavender is supposed to bring to our lives. The Flower Collection is of course inspired by all things floral, with flower shaped cookware or flowers being the handles on top of the lids. If you are looking for a fun whimsical piece for your kitchen or as a gift for a special bride or birthday then check out these two newest looks from Le Creuset. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

Pinnochio And Bartolucci In Florence.

April 6, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Once upon a time, we were walking the streets of Florence, Italy when we came upon a charming store, a store focused on the art of wood carving and the timeless Italian story of Pinocchio. The store is Bartolucci and is run by the Bartolucci family who has been in woodworking since 1936. The Bartolucci store in Florence is gorgeous and will be enjoyed by adult and children alike, the store is filled with beautiful creations in wood that are painted in bright colors and have the most wonderful faces. The focus of the store is Pinocchio, the puppet made of wood who wants to be a real boy. Francesco Bartolucci made his first Pinocchio in 1981 when he took a carpenter’s bench outside so tourists could watch him work, it is from that day on that Francesco says he had found his true path. Along with Pinocchio, you will find clocks, growth charts, toys, and even Christmas decorations. I have some photos to share with you today and if you would like to visit the Bartolucci website you can click here and as always Enjoy!!!

The Aerin Collection For Williams Sonoma

April 5, 2018

By Tab Byrum

The color combination of Blue and Green is one of my favorites and it seems to be a favorite of Aerin Lauders from looking at her new collection of dishes and entertaining pieces for Williams Sonoma. Lauder, of course, is the granddaughter of cosmetics legend EstĂ©e Lauder and this is the second collection she’s designed for WS. The collection her reflects her love for entertaining, especially outdoor entertaining since she says the blue and green in the collection represent the grass and sea. I’m really looking to get all white dishes then have key pieces like salad plates and serving pieces to mix in with the white and this collection would be perfect for that. One piece that especially stands out for me is the AERIN Glass Pitcher, I love the lines of the pitcher and the added piece of glass that snakes across the surface and that handle is gorgeous. Join me for a peek at the collection and let me know what you think. Enjoy!!!

Truman’s White House Renovation

February 19, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Hello everyone and Happy President’s Day!! On this day that we remember all the people who have served our country as Commander In Chief I thought we would take a look at the beautiful home they live in for the time they serve in office, The White House and the major renovation it underwent in the late 40’s and early 1950’s. When the Trumans first moved into the Executive Mansion in 1945 they found the White House in a state of great disrepair, the house had been added onto several times even the addition of a third floor without adequate foundations to hold all the weight. There are stories of during the first two years of the Truman administration of rooms literally swaying on the second floor when people were walking across them and huge chandeliers on the first-floor swaying. It soon became evident that it was no longer safe for the President or anyone to live and work in the White House. President and Mrs. Truman moved across the street to Blair House and a total and complete renovation ensued on the White House. After four years, 1948 to 1952, the Trumans were able to move back in the home and feel safe and proud. The White House Historical Association have amazing pictures, some of which I’m sharing today, of the work as it went on in the house and the final results. Join me today for a trip back in time as we see how the people’s house was saved and made safe and beautiful for all of us. Enjoy!!!

Rose Gold Trend

January 31, 2018

By Tab Byrum

Towards the end of 2017, I had read several times that Rose Gold was going to be a hot trend in home decor for 2018 and I’m definitely seeing a lot more of it than ever before. I was out yesterday at West Elm and Anthropologie killing time between appointments and saw several things done in the pinkish hue. As near I can tell Rose Gold is Gold that has quite a bit of Copper Alloy in it, the more Copper the redder it is. I’ve seen Rose Gold used in jewelry over the years and am still trying to decide what I think about it in home decor. For me I think a little will go a long way, maybe just a touch of it on a lamp or a vase. Today we’re going to look at Rose Gold in our homes and how we can use it. Thoughts?? Enjoy!! (above via)

Pop Chart Lab Creations

November 13, 2017

By Tab Byrum

I LOVE a good chart, I always have. For me to be able to write it out and see how things are related or not related is awesome. I think that’s why I’ve always been fascinated by Family Trees, you can see where or who people came from and why they may be the way they are now. When I taught school I always enjoyed using charts in teaching and I found that the kids usually liked making charts and for people who are visual learners it helps them see the relationships or how the subject evolved. Pop Chart Labs has taken the art of making charts to the next level combining pop culture and art to create both beautiful and fun charts that break down some of our most favorite things. Whether it’s film, TV, fashion, beer, coffee, or dogs there is a chart at Pop Chart Labs for that. At PCL researchers spend a great deal of time researching and learning about particular subjects, then the design team takes that research and turns it into eye-catching art disguised as a chart. All of the charts are made in America, printed on museum-grade paper using environmentally friendly inks. Join me today for a quick look at some of my favorite charts and remember Pop Chart Lab posters would make great holiday gifts this Christmas season. Enjoy!!!
