Not long ago someone posted a link on Facebook to a video on YouTube by a young lady named Heather Rooney, I was intrigued since the picture looked to be a black and white photo of Winston Churchill. Being a history buff, I clicked on the link to see what it was about and was amazed at what I found, not a story on the former British Prime Minister but a video of a portrait being drawn of Mr. Churchill, with the end result looking like a black and white photo and not looking like a drawing.
Needless to say I was fascinated by what I had just seen and starting looking into Heather Rooney and found many, many more videos of her creating these wonders with colored pencils. Rooney is a 20 something art student, she begins her drawing with an outline drawing of the subject or subjects and then begins filling them in using Prismacolor colored pencils.
I’m featuring some of her finished works as well as the videos of her doing the drawings. To watch her create these is truly amazing, watching her apply the colors to faces is like watching flesh itself being applied.

When you get a chance check out Heather Rooney and share her talent with your children, family and friends, it’s really amazing.
I just watched the video of her drawing on a Starbuck’s coffee cup and WOW, Enjoy!!!!!
