Houndstooth is everywhere!! I’ve always loved a good Houndstooth jacket, I have a real thing for a Tabulous tweed anything, but Houndstooth is especially nice.
I think I like Houndstooth so much because of how bold and graphic it is. Today’s Houndstooth fabrics are bolder than ever, available in many many colors and several different sizes whether it’s large exaggerated scale or tiny scale (which is called puppy tooth, isn’t that too cute).
Houndstooth originated in Scotland in the early 19th Century and was worn by shepherds. Houndstooth is usually a duotone or 2 color fabric and most often appears in black and white. In the 1930’s Houndstooth was seen as a symbol of wealth and upper class, being adopted and used in collections over the years by the likes of Dior, Chanel, Armani, and Moschino.

Today you can find Houndstooth in several variations and colors in fabric stores. I took a trip around Oklahoma City to fabric stores snapping pics of houndstooth to share here with you today as well as images of it being used on furniture. Be inspired and bring Houndstooth into your life.
