Into Navy

Hopefully when you read the title of today’s post you could hear the Village People in the background singing “In The Navy”, now you’ll be humming that song all day, YOU’RE WELCOME!!!  Anyway, navy blue is one of my favorite colors, especially as far as clothes go.  I’ve always had a navy blue blazer in the closet, it always looks good with jeans, white pants, khakis or colored pants.  Just as a navy blazer goes with so much so will the color navy in your home.

This dark shade of blue takes it’s name from the color of blue worn by British sailors in the early 19th century.  Initially it was known as Marine Blue, but by the early 1800’s it had changed to navy.

Navy is a color that even though it’s a shade of blue it’s almost a neutral, it works with so many other colors.  Right now I’m seeing a lot of Navy blue in fabrics, furniture and accessories.

The kitchen is a great place to work in some of your favorite color, whether it’s painting an accent wall or adding a bank of cabinets in your color of choice.
You can paint your island in your color for that punch you might be looking for, and of course tile is always a great and easy way to get some color in the kitchen, and you can do as much or as little as you want.
