I have got to have some of the Tabulous creations of artist Rosalie Sherman. Sherman is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art and has spent many years creating public space sculputures. I recently discovered her work on Artful Home.
Working in a wide variety of materials ranging from wood to steel to fabric and now in pewter, Sherman has gone from creating life sized crocodiles and tigers to focusing on her work adorning our homes in the form of handles, knobs, door bell covers, door knockers, hooks and so much more.
Sherman first sculpts her creations out of clay and casts them in plastic. If the piece is to be cast in bronze it is sent to a nearby foundry and Rosalie does all the finishing work herself. If the piece is to be done in pewter then a rubber mold is made and Rosalie casts the pieces in pewter herself as well as doing all the finishing work on them.
As someone looking at a kitchen remodel in his future, I definitely want to incorporate some of her hardware. It would be so fun and unexpected to add a few knobs and a couple of handles here and there. Join me today as we look at the metal creations of Roslie Sherman.
